Bell ad hints at WiFi hotspot functionality for new devices

So we know Bell is launching three new OS 7 devices, that's old news. What's completely new is the fact that this ad shows that these devices will have WiFi hotspot functionality via a software update after the initial launch. Although we had heard about this being added way back when 6.1 was first announced, this is the first evidence of it being put out by any carrier. This is definitely pretty big news as having our devices be mobile hotspots has been a heavily requested feature. We'll see if and when this software update comes out for the line of BlackBerry devices.

Thats good to know that a software update will enable the hotspot. This is one of the features I have been looking forward to with my PlayBook!

The Hotspot feature is NOT enabled on the 9900/9810 phones released on Rogers this week. For me, that was a big feature I was hoping to see. Good to know that it might be enabled in the future by software update...

My disappointment didn't last long - yesterday, I discovered the D-Link DIR-412 - A mobile hotspot wireless router with a USB connection for your rocket stick. So, for the time being, I'll grab one of those and that will take the pressure off for upgrading to OS7. Now, I can wait for QNX by year's end. YA HOOO!
