Sit down with Ryan from Poynt

Poynt is considered a top app in the BlackBerry universe. Being one of the first apps to really introduce a fluid UI and be so user friendly, Poynt has gained the reputation of being BlackBerry Super app. Some of the coolest features of Poynt include the ability to search for restaurant listings, movie times, events, yellow and white pages, be able to contact whatever you're searching for, map it, and even save information. Check out their own description of what makes Poynt great.
    • Deep device integration means never having to exit the app to add contacts, invite friends to meetings, map your route or dinner and movie reservations.
    • Integrated Search for OS 6.0 lets you type any search term from your homescreen, then view results in Poynt (BlackBerry Torch only)

They really have come a long way as one of the first innovators of BBM integration. I use Poynt, but it's a bit hard when you are living in a smaller town. As goes for all search based apps.

BBOS gets a sneak peak of a Turn Based Football Game

As we wind down to the last of our BBM Hackathon interviews we meet up with Sheamus. Sheamus was at BBM Hackathon working on a turn based football app. This game sounds sick! unfortunately, it is still in the early stages and we were unable to see much of anything as a demo. We did get a great explanation of the app and Sheamus' thoughts on the event. Check out the video and let us know what you think of his app.

Interview with Gavin Bennett of BGC Digital Media

There are many apps that help you get to a venue. Other's help you find out what's going at that venue before you get there and there are some app that help you decide what to do after the event. VenueVue's goal is to help users out during the event. Inform and connect people while events are going on. To us, this seemed like a pretty cool concept so we sat down with the developer of this app, Gavin Bennett.
    • Check out the video above and let us know what you think about VenueVue

BBOS Chats with Theban Ganesh about BBM SDK

Well folks, we are just about finished with out BBM Hackathon interviews. This interview takes place near the end of day two. We were able to have a chat with Theban Ganesh, Senior Product Manager of BBM from RIM. Theban was able to give us some great information about the BBM SDK and API's, as well as off some great feedback that the Developers were giving him.

In conclusion, Theban and RIM, feel as though BBM Hackathon was a complete success. Hopefully we will see more of these events in the future. Seeing RIM aid app developers is a great thing for our BlackBerry Community!
