Interview with Gavin Bennett of BGC Digital Media

There are many apps that help you get to a venue. Other's help you find out what's going at that venue before you get there and there are some app that help you decide what to do after the event. VenueVue's goal is to help users out during the event. Inform and connect people while events are going on. To us, this seemed like a pretty cool concept so we sat down with the developer of this app, Gavin Bennett.

BBOS Chats with Theban Ganesh about BBM SDK

Well folks, we are just about finished with out BBM Hackathon interviews. This interview takes place near the end of day two. We were able to have a chat with Theban Ganesh, Senior Product Manager of BBM from RIM. Theban was able to give us some great information about the BBM SDK and API's, as well as off some great feedback that the Developers were giving him.

In conclusion, Theban and RIM, feel as though BBM Hackathon was a complete success. Hopefully we will see more of these events in the future. Seeing RIM aid app developers is a great thing for our BlackBerry Community!

As we wind down to our last interviews, BBOS would like to mention that all of our BBM Hackathon interviews were shot using the BlackBerry PlayBook. While interviewing Mike Kirkup, Senior Director of Development Relations at RIM; Mike made a comment about our PlayBook and how awesome he thought it was.

Check out Mike's thoughts on the PlayBook and its recording capabilities.

BBM Hackathon Event 2011 NYC Comes to an End

Its so sad to post this, however BBM Hackathon was last week and we are out of stuff to share with you. In light of the entire experience we have made a mash-up of our raw footage and put together a great video for you to see. Jammed with jokes (Check out 48 Secs in!!! *Inside joke from the event*), hard working developers, RIM employees and a great Black Eyed Peas song... This is a must-see video. Beware though, you might get motion sickness! lol

On a side note, I would like to say a quick thank you to RIM for allowing BBOS to join in the event. We had a great time and were able to get some great information for our readers! I would also like to thank all the developers that were kind enough to sit down and tell us about their unreleased apps.

The information we received has renewed my faith in RIM as a long standing smartphone company. RIM is going nowhere guys! With an attitude like RIM's and community is sure to stay in their favor. It is great to see them step up and offer their assistance to the many developers that game to BBM Hackathon to learn. Lets remember, as fun as this event was, it was a learning tool for the developers.

Lets hope they learned a lot and they have some great new apps for us to see soon. Thank you again for following us with all the BBM Hackathon Event news, and look for BlackBerryOS at Devcon!

I like these overview videos, they really put the non-participant in the event and give them a idea of the depth.

I have to voice my feelings with all the videos produced from this event. I feel like I have gotten in on the bottom floor of a web site that is and will be a very respected site dealing with the latest news, events, and devices coming out of RIM. I have visions of this site climbing to the top of web sites that every body will know by name, and I have been part of it from nearly the beginning after Joe bought it and made it what it is surely going to become. And I'm part of it, very outstanding, if I do say so myself.

We (BBOS) have gone to a major RIM event, coming home with interviews from some of the upper crust employees working for RIM, employees that make BlackBerrys, BlackBerrys. These folks were impressed by agentblackberry and theonlyjrod. Impressed with the interview questions, their professional appearance, and the fact that they were videoed using a BlackBerry device.

As I've stated before, I'm sure that those who were approached by our team walked away thinking, "I gotta look that site up."
