Thread: BBM Blamed for UK Riots

ABC news has issued a report that pretty much states that BBM is one of the root causes in UK's recent riots. The editor goes on to say that all most of the rioters are youth, and that they are using BBM as a secret way to communicate, and broadcast messages for new riot times.
In this quote by the writer MARK SCHONE, even suggests that RIM had a secret gig in which it targeted young black youth

BlackBerry made a specific effort to market its product among black youth in London, recently sponsoring a "secret gig" in London featuring top U.K. rappers.

However another report says that RIM will begin helping

The maker of the BlackBerry, Research in Motion, said on Monday night that it would co-operate with a police investigation into claims that its popular BlackBerry Messenger service played a key role in organising the London riots.

RIM is taking alot of heat on this one from both side. If its not a financial issue its political for RIM What do you think?

RIM is responsable? For what? Offering a way to communicate to all its end-users? If this is followed to its logical conclusion, telephones, cellphones, the internet, the postal service, and word of mouth is soon to be blamed for anything that those in power don't want us to use to communicate. Communication spreads knowledge, ideas, and power, and we aren't supposed to have those things.

It appears as though everything is backwards in society today.
