Thread: BlackBerry Device Roadmap for the US

After compiling some leaked and rumored data about RIM's new line of devices, we have come up with a small roadmap of possible future release dates.

The first thing you will notice when looking at the roadmap, is the Torch 2 9810. It seems that AT&T has lost its Torch exclusivity, because you can see T-Mobile will be launching the device. Do you think this because AT&T has the the exclusivity or just because AT&T is going to be buying T-Mobile??

The second thing you will notice is the possibility that all devices will be out on the marketing by Black Friday. This will be key for the carriers sales and work great for the holiday season if it works out this way.

The Roadmap:

BlackBerry Torch 2 9810 (Touch with slide full QWERTY keypad):

• AT&T in September
• T-Mobile in November

BlackBerry Torch 2 Full Touch 9850/60 (Will be CDMA ONLY at this time):

• Sprint by November
• Verizon by November

BlackBerry Bold 9900:

• AT&T in November
• Verizon in August
• Sprint in August
• T-Mobile in August

BlackBerry Curve 9360

• Curve 9360 September
• All carriers by November

For those that do not know, there is going be two BlackBerry Torch’s the 9810 full QWERTY keypad and the Full touch 9850/60. The full touch will be replacing the BlackBerry Storm line up. Having two types of Torch devices, one with sliding keypad and one full touch is silly and for another topic, however if you would like please comment on this below.

Wow. I hope you're off by more than a little. I've seen rumors elsewhere of the 9900 and the Torch 2 dropping by August, and haven't both recently gotten FTC approvals, which usually occurs sooner in time to the release than would be the case if these things were pushed back until the fall?

Everyone knows about the hideous handheld backlog logjam at RIM, so what is taking so long? The 9900 are in production already, which is another indication of a pending release, rather than one that is still months away.

And remember, RIM has their first QNX based handsets coming first q 2012. The sooner they get the 2011 models out, the more likely and sooner some of us buying them will be ready to upgrade early to the 2012 models. If I get a 9900 or Torch 2 in August, by February or March I might talk myself into a QNX. But if I don't get a 9900 or Torch 2 until the fall, I'm much more likely to sit out the first quarter 2012 first release of QNX handset.

I for one hope the Torch 9850/60 comes out in the next month or so. And as for the QNX phones for next year, I wouldn't be surprised if there are only 1 or 2 models released.

I can't believe the 9850/60 is coming for CDMA only..what about us GSM users?

That BlackBerry Torch 2 for Sprint looks like may be my next Blackberry... All there releases after the Tour, haven't really caught my eye so maybe this will be the one.
