With the recent circulation of a confidential internal presentation regarding BIS 4.1 (Blackberry Internet Service), its clear RIM is getting ready to do some major upgrades. Not only does this confirm some email enhancements, but it also further confirms that OS 7 devices are well on their way to consumers hands.
Lets take a look at some of these new features, and how they will affect you.
BIS now allows for larger message managemnt. Take a look at the following enhancements:
- Can now recieve up to 11MB in message size
- Increased body of compressed HTML messages from 60KB to 300KB
- Attachment size has been increased to 8MB
Email Inbox Priming
What does this mean? Its means that BIS 4.1 will now preload the first 20 email messages from the server. No more just new emails, this is a great feature.
Enhanced Security Control
One of the great characteristics about Blackberry is their ability to handle security. They have continued this trend as RIM introduces new BIS account management updates. These updates include the following enhancements:
- Security Wipe Email Control
- SIM Swap Experience
With security wipe email control, a device wipe is handled as if it was directly wiped from a server. This will cut down on the the chances of misdirected mail. Its basically fully freezes all email.
User Interface Changes
Last but not least, RIM has made some changes to the user interface. User interface changes are always good, a refresh in the way we see htings is always good.
There are also quite a few carrier changes that will help out with the management of users.
