The underlying problem here is far more serious than what VZW may/may not release in terms of an OS. JLevy73 and others are reporting this BT problem and yet there are also many, many VZW Storm users who have tried .141 and .148 and do not have the issue...leading one to conclude that not all Sorms are the same. This is almost an impossible situation to correct via the OS. What a freaking mess!

I agree with with what you said but typically if you look through the apple forums their change logs will be provided there as well. The .148 change log was an internal VZW document and was not something most Storm owners will ever see. I am Mac user and also had an iPhone for a while (still use it as a paperweight) and while the Storm is a great phone there are many things RIM can learn from that phone. For example, most iPhone owners don't need to replace 5 phone to get the screen to work right. And while updates are few and far between their base OS was far superior to the crappy .65 that came preloaded with the Storm on November 21st.

Yeah I know Toy it is a mess. And there are other forums who are reporting the same problem that I and others have experienced. What's even more maddening is that through someone I was able to communicate with an internal tester for vzw and this was his response to the bug. "Yes we are aware of this bug and my suggestion would be once the OS is released to the public that he call vzw tech support go through the trobleshooting steps and they will submit a ticket to RIM." Wow just :censored: wow.

I wonder if RIM/VZW know pretty much how many Storms are affected by the "bug" and decided to deal with them seperately rather than hold up another OS release. Sounds to me like an opportunity for those adversely affected (ie. VZW made your phone less functional -not to mention it's a driving safety issue) to make a demand for fully functional replacements...maybe a free upgrade to the Storm 2 when it's available if you're interested in that. But I see no reason for certain users to have to contend with a lesser device because of VZW/RIMs decision to ignore a known problem.

True if they knowingly overlooked this issue it's almost bordering on illegal. What I mean is the state I live in requires hands free driving so it makes no sense that they would approve an OS that could easily result in a class action suit against them. VZW is located in NY and the laws regarding cell phone and driving are even more strict than they are here in CA. So go figure, just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

yup - very strict here as well (NJ). Been on the books for a while now and enforcement is picking up noticably.

New Jersey motorists were given about 120,000 tickets for violating the state's cell phone/texting law during the first year the law was in effect, the attorney general's office and Division of Highway Traffic Safety announced April 24. During March 2009, 14,464 cell phone tickets were issued to motorists throughout the state for violating the law.
I wonder if any of the State/local police officers will feel pity for those they pull over and hear, "Sorry oficer, but my bluetooth connection seems to have failed". Yeah, they'll buy into that, right????? By the way, does this OS also affect your wired headset volume?

yep, ive been pulled over a couple times myself (nj also) due to my cell phone :angryfire: and i dont see getting away with it by blaming it on my OS especially with the way state troopers are not so nice nowadays

310,000 tickets issues by the California Highway Patrol. 25,000 last month alone.

You know I never tried the wired headset but it won't really help while driving. It's a $286 ticket for having both ears covered while driving.

Thats a good thing to keep in mind. If I hear "sorry officer my bluetooth isnt working right", I'll ask him which OS he is running and if its anything else but .141 and 48, he's screwed, lol. and I'll tell them to come to this site to learn which OS's are having BT issues so they can get their story right, lol.

I downloaded .148 from here about 2 weeks ago when it was leaked. I understand that verizon is releasing that software today. When i go to verizon.com they still have the old OS. Im wondering if that i downloaded 2 weeks ago is going to be the same thing as the official release or should i update my phone again?
