Thread: Facebook being updated to 1.6 May 28th

The rumor mill has churned again, this time claiming that RIM is slated to release Facebook 1.6 Thursday, May 28th at 5pm EST.

New features in this release are:

1. Feed support - view and comment on friends status updates and highlights
2. Profile and wall viewing - view and comment on friends’ profiles and wall updates
3. Improved photo viewing - view and comment on pictures
4. Additional language support

So Facebook junkies do these new features sound exciting? Drop a reply and let us know your thoughts.

Since it's RIM news and other sites have placed it on their front page figured I would follow in kind. Plus it will get more exposure on the front page than in the 3rd party apps.

Thanks Olta, it was 6 1/2 of one a dozen of another and RIM news drew the short straw

Well I will be super surprised if it happens. Blackberry/RIM are ANTI-content. The entire goal of their OS is usually to NOT deliver content. Cases in point:

- Facebook app which since inception has delivered ZERO content. You can POST to Facebook, but never get the content.

- Web browser which spends a LOT of time "requesting" pages and not a lot of time actually showing you ... y'know ... content.

- E-Mail which, until this past summer, had gone 10 years without displaying anything other than raw text.

- Youtube app which provides 28.8k modem quality video with mono sound.

Delivering content is antithetical to RIM's entire philosophy. So I for one will be completely shocked if this comes to fruition.

I'm glad! This current version sucks! Some of the threads come over normal, some make you click a link, which doesn't take you anywhere near the thread.
