RIM Confirms QNX Will Make Its Way Onto BlackBerry Devices, But Not Anytime Soon
RIM president a co-chief executive, Mike Lazarid, confirms during the CES 2011 show that the highly anticpiated operating software of the BlackBerry PlayBook, QNX, will in fact make its way onto BlackBerry smartphones as part of RIM's 10-year plan; the devices, which have not yet been created, are already being dubbed the "superphones" in lieu of the term smartphone. So, what can we expect?
Although Lazarid confirms the software will eventually be brought to consumers, he says not to expect it anytime soon. Here's what he had to say about the long wait:

"Putting in all the infrastructure, building the relationships, building the supply channels, the infrastructure, the distribution, the manufacturing capacity, that’s what we did! And we continue to grow, right? What we’re setting up is for the next 10 years of BlackBerry."
RIM is confident that they "can grow with where the market is going as opposed to where the market is today." Sounds like a challenge. RIM never was a company to be the most "fun" to your everyday consumers, but then again, they never claimed to be. That is until their recent release of the OS 6.0 and the future QNX on the PlayBook and future phones.
