Thread: 1.5 Million Downloads Per Day in BlackBerry App World!

RIM made a lot of very interesting and exciting announcements today at the opening day of DevCon 2010. One of the announcements was about the traffic from BlackBerry App World. RIM is usually very quite when it comes to BlackBerry App World traffic, but today they shared a few stats.

• There are 35 million BlackBerry users actively using BlackBerry App World
• BlackBerry App World is available in over 70 countries
• 1.5 million downloads a day in BlackBerry App World
• Of the 1.5 million apps downloaded, 75% of those are on OS 5.0 and up

With RIM adding another 4.5 million subscribers in the last quarter alone, that number of downloads is sure to rise.

I'm really liking the changes that RIM has been doing with App World, and whats to come in future versions. One of my favorite new features is the carrier billing. What are your thoughts on App World?

To be honest, I hate always having to log in with the most recent version. It has forced me to download from other sources where it is a bit more convenient. 1.5 million a day is kind of surprising.

I agree with you there. I wish it would save your login credentials. Maybe we can send a message to RIM about it.

If it just nubs the rim put just a little power into it, if it hits the back of the rim and pops right back out, put less power in it
