woha...can not believe, what I am reading here, Storm to be discontinued soon? To be replaced by what?

Storm 1.... Not storms overall! They already got rid of it! The Mom and pop cell company's like Inland are picking it up.

I have to agree with Jason on this. What probably happened was this... This following statement was made in public "the storm 1 has been completely discontinued, we are burning through stock, and fru stock and then moving on" which turned into "VERIZON is discontinuing the storm! They are no longer going to sell blackberry(on somesites)" I would have to say this was reference only to the storm 1

ya id have to agree with jason and jnespa, the rumors would translate that into the storm line itself is being discontinued. discontinuing the storm and not hearing any leaks of a replacement is hard to believe

I doubt the 9550 is part of this. And, when a #2 of any device is launched it's only a matter of time until stock is depleted, the item is not re-ordered, and it's discontinued. It's the nature of the industry.

Yeah but the storm would be a sad loss for very few.

I agree. Once the Storm 2 came out...why would VZW continue stocking the Storm 1. I wouldn't be that surprised if RIM was decided to stop producing a Storm 1...whats the purpose of having both ?

Both articles seem to imply that Verizon will be tossing both Storm versions. Any Big Red insiders on here to offer some insight in where this story came from and what it actually means?

Read the earlier post I made about the wording be all switched around, this isnt true.

This would not make me very happy since I just bought my Storm 2 on the 14th. I actually like my phone very much but don't want to have a phone they decided to dump. Tech support through Verizon would suck.

Seems to be S1 (and some other devices) only.

irony...i have been getting tired of my storm 1, i cracked it slightly and kept using it, then today it hit my desk here at work and cracked again, now its juuust about unusable, filed a claim getting a new one tomorrow..wonder if it will be an S2??!?!?! yea right waaay to early

Truthfully I was hoping the rumor of dropping the storm line was true. I bhave 9 lines on T-Mo in which i get incredible rates I but I was hoping T-mo USA could pick it like Euorope although do love my 8900!

It would make perfect sense to drop a device that has been "upgraded" to another level. Such is the case with the storm 1. Why would Big Red keep that on the shelf if there was a "better" model to have customers trade up to? This way, if your device breaks before the contract is up, you'll have to sign up for another two years, it makes perfect business sense, even if it makes no sense to real people.
As for the pearl flip, wow! I'm surprised it made it this long.... (MHO, of course...)
