RIM's big announcement coming to Mobile World Congress? Possibly a BESX relaunch?

It seems all but confirmed that RIM is going to be making a splash at this year's Mobile World Congress. Boy Genius and CrackBerry have both been hearing about a big announcement from Mike Lazaridis (RIM CEO) this week at the Barcelona conference. The big news? Well, Supposedly its the relaunch of BES Express. BESX is said to be a free BES option for BIS customers. The "ActiveSync Killer" would feature OTA syncing, backups and no need for a dedicated server. We will know for sure this week. So stayed tuned and we will update this story when more details arise.

What worries me is that if they come up with BESX, then are RIM going to be able to control as to what we can put on our BB's? Could this be an end to leaks and hybrids as we know it?

A free OTA for a connection with a BES?! That would be great, that's the only thing missing for me at work is a sync with the cal and contacts. We shall see.

With todays BESx now called BPS you can already sync calendar and contacts OTA. In fact you can OTA sync all Outlook folders.

What I wnat to see in the new BPS/BESx is

    -subfolder sync
    -OTA app installation
    -HTML mail support

Agree that BESX would be cool. Now, if that would coincide with the Sprint 9650 launch, that would be priceless!

You guys can download Blackberry Professional Software (BPS) from here
BlackBerry - BlackBerry Professional Software Express
This download comes with a free CAL user license and you need your BB devices PIN in order to download the software.
BPS is available for Exchange and Domino. The main difference between the old BESx and BPS is that BESx had a 15 user limit while BPS have a 30 user limit.
