Or to make them all so expensive to upgrade or even operate, they would fall by the wayside and give the Iphone more customer base.

Have you ever wondered why things intended to make our lives simpler keep getting more complicated to use?
IMHO, not that i despise M$ cause i don't i effin hate them, They try to put their proverbial hand in everything that anyone will let them rape from them, and always have a way of screwing it up way worse than it was before. RIM has room for improvements in a few areas, but i dont believe M$ would do anything but hinder them, and help them lose a few loyal customers after M$ molds RIM's aspirations to theirs.

This would defenitely kill the Blackberry prestige. The Microsoft brand doesn't have anywhere near the same value of Blackberry. Microsoft just started earlier than everyone else. Look how fast Google is catching up
I wish this message gets to M$ head quarter's office:
Steve Ballmer, fck off!
Microsoft can stick its nose up in Apple's and RIM's @ss so it can learn a little meaning of the word Innovation.
Let's all keep this civil, it is no secret there are many of us (myself included) that are fed up with Microsoft. We don't need a thread that takes the discussion to a "bashing" level.
Thank you

I might consider a droid if this happens.
A Droid ate an Apple and A Storm blew it away.:amish:
I was discussing this with my dad (who also is a blackberry geek). He currently works at Price Water House Coopers in their acquisition and account department (He is the manager of it). He said for Microsoft to be able to acquire RIM it would require Microsoft to go through hell. For one, the entire thing would have to go through the government and with Rim being worth as much as they are it would be the one of the biggest acquisitions in history. Two, since RIM is a Canadian based company, the Canadian government would get involved also - making it more hell. He said Microsoft's only possible chance of taking over RIM would be with a brute force buyout (Meaning Microsoft goes in and throws around enough money to where everyone collapses and gives in).
He then continued to say it is more likely that RIM take over Microsoft's mobile department than Microsoft take over RIM's mobile department.

This last post is very insightful, thanks! As a Canadian I always hate to see established companies get taken by, sorry to say, american ones such as microsoft.
Also I would have to agree with some of you guys in that should this happen my BB wouldn't be as great. I went from a Palm, with windows OS to a BB and I loved it ever since. Besides a BB with windows just seems like a crime against nature.

there are a couple issues -
1. will they keep both OS's or try and combine them?
2. Who will be in charge - RIM or Microsoft?
If they somehow figure out how to have a happy marriage, it could be the answer to the iphone. The reliability and security of RIM with the simpler user interface and applications of Windows.
it would be something to see if, it does happens.
Blackberry connect on windows mobile phones, that actually function like a real blackberry not just email and browsing. windows mobile has a pretty good market share. But the same goes with other blackberry connect devices. know a lot of people with nokia smartphones that are just dying to get a fully functional BB connect software, I mean with BBM and everything. I was a windows mobile user, I use a blackberry, and loving it, but I also love windows mobile devices, it's doesn't have the most user friendly interface, but it is hard to find other phones that are more powerful, in my opinion.
This would be the end of RIM as we know it, I for one would definitely have nothing else to do with it if Microsoft were involved, their products stink.
