Thread: Blackberry 9630 first review

Hardware:

You can literally think of the BlackBerry 9630 as a BlackBerry Storm with a QWERTY keyboard. It?s that exact. From the cell radios (quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, single band UMTS/HSDPA, 1X/EVDO) to even the layout of the keys on the side, it?s almost identical. It definitely follows RIM?s styling cues from the Curve 8900 and obviously the Storm as well. This will be tough for people contemplating switching to Verizon because it offers 90% of what every BlackBerry user has dreamed and it?s on the nation?s best network.

You know where we?re going here, don?t you? Wi-Fi. Verizon told us they really looked forward to releasing BlackBerry devices with Wi-Fi, blah, blah, blah. Cutting it short, as you all know, the 9630 doesn?t have Wi-Fi. There were rumors of pre-release devices floating around with Wi-Fi, and that obviously clears up any ?technical? limitations (seriously, do you honestly think ?we can?t fit it on the circuit board? is an excuse anymore?. This blunder is on Verizon?s shoulders, RIM, we excuse you this time.

You know, they can bash the Storm all they want I really love my phone.

Not really a big fan of the half screen, plus there is no click screen. Maybe it's just me...

i have to say now i love both ways, my full screen storm and my half screen bold....

i use the same setup. and every now and then ill grab the good ol' curve.....but i like the huge screen on the bold but love the qwerty keyboard on my bold. so its one of those things when i get ready in the morning, if i feel like im going to be texting or emails alot ill grab the bold, if i going to go out at night ill grab the storm (no one around here really has one, ive seen 1 person with one since i got mine) and everything thinks its the shit when i pull it out....so its nice to go both ways, and yes im going to be getting a 9630 lol

Yeah, I definitely understand where the bold has it's usefulness, I just got pissy cause of how they ripped on the Storm.

Wow I love my Curve 8330, enjoy my storm still waiting for the OS update but i really like 9630. Not sure what about it i like so much. Tell you the truth i wouldn't mind having a Bold if verizon would carry it. I think its the actual keyboard that i like the most. By the time this comes out i should be ready for an upgrade (NICE)

all in all its basically a small bold with some physical features the storm has. with an os similar to the storm. so its basically the best of both worlds

I like the look. I agree with mmanuel552 about wishing Big Red had the Bold. I originally wanted the bold.
