dont quote me here, but RIM sent the os for testing purposes already for various devices to various carriers, from what i can remember tmobile is testing for the 8900 and att for both the 8900 and the bold 9000, so as some has said here is not on rim ends but on the carriers end...

If i remember correctly the original statement said that they wouldn't all be released by the end of 09 but would all be up and running shortly into 2010

On Monday we did see the first official release of a OS v5.0 update. I too believe that RIM has most likely released 5.0 to the carriers and that it is indeed the carriers we are waiting on. We have seen new devices released with 5.0 on it, so it is obviously there. We know it is out there, we have the leaked OSes to prove it. I think people need to get off of RIM's back and realize that there are many impediments RIM has to deal with that is not in their control. I am not saying RIM is perfect, because, like any large organization they too have places where they fall short. But that being said, it seems like since Blackberrys have become so universally popular, RIM has become like a poking target for many people. I am sure that some of it is justified but I also believe a lot if it is people trying to lay blame wherever they can, right or wrong

In case anybody would like to view this article on the RIM site I just tried and it seems to be currently unavailable. I am not sure if the page is temporarily down or if RIM permanently removed it. Just a FYI and a heads up for everybody.

Actually that wasnt the 1st 5.0 update. Verizon updated the 9530 to 5.0 a while back.

The problem is the carriers. I'm sure RIM had 5.0 in their hands. They are the ones who will decide when it gets out not RIM. RIM's only mistake was making a promise that was not within their power to keep.
