New BBM sending pictures issue

Is anyone else having issues sending pictures via the new BBM?

You know have to save the image before being allowed to view it. But as me and a few friends are finding out, you can't even get that far! I have sent images and friends have sent me images, but they will not download. It just sits there saying "received 0.00kb"

Anyone having the same issue? I'm on the Tour running OS 5.0.0.230. One friend is on a Bold with a standard OS, and another friend is on a VZW Curve with a newly release (official) OS.

I'm having the same problem on my Bold. I hope someone has a fix for this soon

I have not ran into this problem yet but let me try sending a pic and i will get back to you on that.

Just sent one and it worked fine, how big is the Image your trying to send ?

If the picture is being sent on a BBM 5 OS 5.0 device to a BBM5 < 5.0 OS device there will be issues because the the < 5.0 OS's have a file size transfer limit and BBM5 w/ OS 5.0 will not compress the images to meet this limit. You would think that when u crop it and things it would work fine or even if you both have BBM5 it should be fine but I don't believe the larger file transfer works for BBM5 unless all parties have BBM5 + OS 5.0.0.xxx running.

See, I was wondering that since I'm on OS 5 and none of my friends are. But even if I choose "small" image, it still does not want to work. I've tried all 3 sizes with no luck.

However, wouldn't you think someone sending ME a picture would have no trouble? Even when they try to send a picture, it doesn't want to download to my phone. ALTHOUGH, my friend took a picture with his camera, and before saving the image, he chose to send it to me. At first it did the same thing, just sat there saying 0.00kb had downloaded. Then a few minutes later, it started downloading.
So far, that's the ONLY image I've gotten to work. And again, this was sent from a bold with an official to my phone with a leaked 5.0 OS.

I just didn't know if this was an issue for me, due to the OS difference, or if this was happening all around.

Thanks for all the info. Here's to hoping this gets cleared up when/if they roll out OS 5 officially!

Perhaps it's a problem with the BBM servers.

+1 for me too. I'm having the exact same problem. I'm trying to figure out all the variables but dunt seem to find an answer to it. My best guess to these probs is server problem goes together with avatar not showing. Hope someone can clear the air. I'm so annoyed that I can't share pics anymore with some of my close mates.

That's another thought too: since the greater universe is now armed with an updated BBM, EVERYONE and their kid brother is trying this thing out, so the servers could be severely overloaded.

At this point, we've decided we'll just keep an eye on it and maybe it will work in a day or two. If not...I'm coming back to the Blackberry OS Forums to complain! ;)

Has anyone come up with a fix for this prob yet? This is totally unacceptable. Guess I'm gonna have to downgrade until RIM can get their s**t together.

Hi guys, I think I came up with the solution after so many trials. It seems to work 100% of the time so far for me and been testing with all my mates. So here's is wat i do, only send picture directly from the chat window with the person and choose 'Send Picture' and nothing else. Ignore send file, or send out from media folder, or sending file directly after u took a picture. If u do any of those then you'll most likely ended up with 0.0kb received bugs. Well im no IT guy but i guess that would help coz it now work for me 100% of the time. If i choose to send off any of those then it immediately stop working.

I have the same problems as well. My wife has a Storm with 5.0 OS and 5.5bbm and my storm has the same OS's and BBM as her. I cannot receive the pictures. the only way i can see what is she sending is by looking at the thumbnail preview before accepting.
