Thread: A Possible Blackberry Messenger Update somewhere in process?

What could be happening at RIM? To us it's all a mystery still....to add some more to the piled up mysteries, BB users are getting these Blackberry Messenger Update "Available" pop ups. What could that all be about? Many rumors float, and one of them, is may be RIM updated servers for new BBM? We know for sure it's not BBM 5...at least not just yet....as image 2 shows an error. RIM, let it loose...we are ready for BBM 5...we got to see glimpse of the initial leaked one, and we are all curious to see what improvements have been made and features added.

Also appears that it's not for BB users with newer devices, as I got this error on my storm:

So for now....lets just discuss, speculate, guess, and patiently wait for the mystery to unveil....

I'm really looking forward to the new BBM.
That is truly what I miss the most since I am using the newer leaked OS's for my 9530.

I still like the old version thank you very much. If RIM can give me options to set up BBM5 in a minimalistic view rather than all the overlays that take up screen space I'd be happy. I don't like my message space being cut in half in the new version.

sheesh your picky, all I know is this is annoying me because now everytime i click on BBM i get the update screen and it will NOT go away!!1

+1 really really annoying

Waiting patiently for BBM 5.0.19 to be leaked. IMHO that would make .230 damn near perfect

Wow...I haven't received this once yet!

I have finally stopped recieving the update screen

Sorry guys BBM 5 will not be pushed out by RIM anytime soon. BBM 5 has a long way to go. It's possible it could be leaked, but as of right BBM 5 is really not something you would want to use, just to many bugs.

+1 way to much screen real estate used on BBM5 IMO

Just curious as to what kind of bugs you are referring to? Before going to .230 I didnt have any issues with using bbm5.

the newer builds we have not seen yet have some pretty severe bugs.. I am sure there are not many details as we shuold not know they exist so to speak.

I am all the way in Panama and I am getting this message. I just ignored it since I recently installed the OS 5.0.190 and was skeptic about installing it and losing all my contacts again.

Assuming that the update does become available, would I lose my contacts after processing the OTA update?

well you should just go ahead and leak it and let us see these so called bugs for ourselves
