Thread: Lost my BBM in 191, help

ok, i know bbm 5.0 doesnt work in 191 but 4.7 does. today i seem to have lost my bbm, no matter what i do i cant seem to DL it back on to my berry? ive done multiple ota DL which always say dl successful but then i cant find it in my apps?

any suggestions ?

Have you tried a battery pull? Did you try removing it through DM? Also, which OTA file did you use for BBM 4.7. Just want to make sure it's the right one.

sorry had to hit the sack last pm, work in am. Yes i tried a bat pull, deleted bbm 5.0 dl ota of 4.7 said it was successful. couldnt findit anywhere in add on's in 191. there where two file inthe ota section, 4.7 & 5.0(4.7 for storm) i used the straight 4.7.
nothing seemed to work so today my plan is to delete 191 off comp, re'DL it, install, wipe, install etc. I've done all the little things i could think of.

Delete BBM off your phone and plug it in to your pc then run loader and and check mark the box for BBM. That will load it back on your phone.

Yeah I tryed just bout everything I could think of. Bat pulls, deletes & reinstall, even diff links but nothing worked. So I ended up deleting 191 off pc, installed fresh, wiped phone etc.

Got everything back now so I'm happy. Just lost all my bbm contacts, it won't let me add without requesting friend status again. Guess I didn't save some of them to contacts either so those are gone as well. Oh well least its back.

Glad you got it back and working when was your last back up? when you restore is should pull all those back over, unless of course you didn't back up recently. You could try doing a selective restore just on blackberry messenger and seeing if that solves the issues?

Usually i do one once a week but i always do one before i do anything with my os. I had done a full back up before i wiped/installed this last time but for some reason it didnt pull that info forward...

Oh well, everythings back and running so no big deal...

You can do the selective restore and only pick the things like bbm, and others that you lost. That is what is actually recommended after a OS install because, somethings may corrupt the new install. If you have any questions on how to do this just let us know... It only takes 2 mins after you figure out how to do it...

I always worried about that!!!!

You mentioned selective restore, how is that done? I always back up through DM, then do 3rd party back up, do the phone security wipe followed by a wipe with either JL_Commd or BBSAK then load my new os. After i restore through DM my back ups.

When u open DM and then click backup/restore. Select advanced option then on the left window on top u will see u can click and select open.... Find your latest backup and then u can scroll through the left window and select only the things u want to restore... In your case bbm just select bbm from the list and it will restore your contacts and settings.
