Thread: Can't install BBM5 on my Bold

I have not been able to find anything yet,

never noticed that yet.. amongst phanton bbms not showing up on my list.. the indicator shows but nothing is in bbm hehehe any1?

Strange....I've had a good friend tell me his 4.5.x.xxx 8130 has done this with the 4.5.x BBM but no one else has had this happen to them??? Pay close attention down the road, I didn't notice it at first but its happened to me at least 3 or 4 times now all randomly.

Hey Blade welcome to BBOS.

Part of the problem is the fact that BBM 5 was a leak and not an official version from RIM. So it is still beta and therefore bugs will no doubt rear their ugly head. I use Slacker and BBM 5 and never had an issue. But I did read on another forum that someone was having a similar issue to yours. It is know that apps from 5.0 sometimes do not play nice with those designed for 4.7. So it could be just a compatibility issue between those two programs. I'd be curious if these errors show up in your event log.

Once you install BBM do a battery pull before opening the program.

Has not happened to me....fortunately my BBM 5.0 has worked flawlessly since installing.

Didnt work for me, using OS 5.0.0.238 on Bold and none of the steps works for me. Tried all OTAs and Desktop loading...

Ok sorry if I appear to be sounding stern but I've seen TONS of posts on TONS of threads of people asking and attempting this... so once and for all. :aargh4:

BBM5 (5.0.0.8) DOES NOT WORK on any Operating System version greater than:


5.0.0.15x

If your installed OS ver. is LESS THAN or EQUAL TO: 5.0.0.15x = BBM5 WORKING.

If your installed OS ver. is GREATER THAN: 5.0.0.15x = BBM5 NOT WORKING.

Now just cross your fingers and hope for a new BBM5 leak that is compatible with OS's greater than 5.0.0.15x
