I am very glad that we got that straightened out for you...Did not mean to start off on the wrong foot by moving your thread. I hope you understand. By doing this is will allow others to see if the criteria fit their situation.

Now then Rock on...Happy BBM'ing as our resident E would say.
    Good day

I will find you the OTA. Please refresh my memory. What device and which OS are you currently running?

I looked through the thread and sis not see this.

Is anyone else having this issue? Open BBM on my storm. I click on a contact to start a new conversation. Nothing happens. I have to click my BB button and then select "start Chat.

Then when I click on any of the icons on the bottom (add contact, contact details, search) all it does is scroll down 2 contacts.

Any idea what can be causing this and what is the fix?

Yes vader and welcom to the thread. I have this happen from time to time. What we all must realize about this BBM 5.0 is that it is Beat. There will be bugs, howerver manageable bugs....

Oh I figured as much. Doesn't kill me and the pros SERIOUS outweigh the cons right now. I can live with it. just curious if anyone else had these issues.

Me to vader...I am really impressed with all the new features. I think jnespa found some other features concerning the homescreen contacts. It was floored by his screenshot. Have you seen it?

I've been busy this morning so I haven't had a chance to do that. I'm looking forward to the results. Do you have any suggestions vader?

Not really. I am still trying everything out.

I have done these tests with the new BBM:

    1) it will work old to new on chat
    2) you still can send pics from new to old and vice versa.
    3) updates to the Curve can only happen if OS is above 138. (I have upgraded 2 units to 160 to make it work.)
    4) the "save to homescreen saves (on a storm) to your "messaging folder" so to get the contact on main screen, you have to move to folder. No biggie.
    5) the couple of quirks I mentioned earlier, but just use the BB button to get around it.
    6) I have tested the barcode add request and it is VERY nice. works well.

Beyond that, i am still learning myself.

I had great success downloading to my PC rlervin. Let me ask you this concerning the OTA. Have you tried to copy the link, insert the link into and email, then send it to your device? What do you think about that?

5.0.8 is for the 9630 Tour BBM 5.0

Which device are we going to be working with?

Okay...so from the zip file select it and extract all the files. You should see an .alx extension coupled with a java folder. You will need to make a copy of the .alx extension and paste it inside the COD folder.

Be sure to make a backup.

After that, I would run the loader in this fashion.
Open MyComputer>>LocalDisk C>>Program Files>>Common Files>>Reasearch In Motion>>AppLoader>>Loader(looks like a picture of a phone) this is a superior way of trying to install OS/Applications in IMO. Be sure your device is connected to your PC. Now run the Loader.exe and let the application wizard bring you to the Device configuration screen. The next screen that should present itself will be the Device Application Selection screen. If the new messenger has not populated with the rest of the applications, there is a tab that reads "Add". Select this tab. Now you will need to navigate to the place on your PC that you copy/pasted the .alx extension. From here select that .alx extension that you copied and not the one you pasted into the COD folder.
See if this get the job done.

Hey man, its doing it again, did yours continue to do that. Its now delivering messages anymore. It was fine for a bit, but not doing it now. And when one of them is delivered, it dont show the D or R over the check mark. Am i just SOL with BBM 5.0? I did do it from OTA, should i have done it another way?
