I remember seeing someone else with this issue once before, but I don't recall anything ever being resolved without drastic measures.

So being the loving husband I am I plugged my wifes phone in and presto same result... Now we could BBM with avatars and scan barcodes ahhhh life is good. That was the peak of my happiness however ... after about 1 hour I BBM'd my wife and it went directly to me. HUH weird I thought. So I called her and asked her to try BBMing me and her phone told her that I wasnt a contact anymore.....what????? So began the process of loading and re contacting and re downloading OTA and wiping and other crap only to have the same problem over and over and over. My BBM was swapping her contact PIN with mine thus BBMing myself only under her name (sometimes hers did the same thing). I figure this has do something with the fact that I used DM and did one right after the other but I'm not sure. I've reinstalled and turned off the auto backup contact feature but still no lucK! This sucks somebody please help me! I'm running 5.0.0.140 and shes on 4.7.0.151. Thanks

That is frustrating. Here is something to try since you guys are running different OS's. Once again delete BBM off of your phone.

Since you are running 5.0 download the following OTA to your phone: http://www.theiexplorers.com/BBM/For_5.0.0/BBMen.jad

For your wifes phone, since she is on 4.7 she should use the following OTA:
    http://www.theiexplorers.com/BBM/For_4.7.0/BBMen.jad

Once installed each of you do a battery pull and see if that helps.

LifeofLeiser - I am having the same problem as you. I upgraded my device to OOAK's hybrid on Saturday and then upgraded my wife's to Lyricidal's last night, when I reloaded her BBM mine went blank and she had a combination of all her contacts plus mine. This is the second time this has happened to us. We each had contacts backed up on our STORMs but were unable to retrieve them off the memory card (sep issue I guess). The only fix we could figure was to delete my contacts off of her device (leaving only hers) and I re-added to mine.

Does anyone know why BBM would duplicate contacts on different devices? My understanding of BBM is that it is PIN driven and each BB has it's own unique one.
Any information/feedback on how to alleviate this in future upgrades would be much appreciated.

    Hey wolvrne1,

Maybe a solution for you would be to backup your device before performing any upgrades/hybrid installations to your device. Then once your installation is complete, use DM to reinstall your BBM contact list from the advanced tab in your Backup/Restore feature.
    What do you think?
