Need some of your expertise with this BBM 5.0 thing! Here's the scoop: I've got a VZW Tour OS4.7.1 that I tried to install the BBM 5.0 OTA. During the install, it requested that I overwrite 3 files to which I said yes to and it continued and appeared to have completed successfully. It wanted to reboot, and so I let it. When it came back online, there was no BBM icon - not on the home screen or in any folder. Nothing hidden anywhere (that I found).

So...now, I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it with the same results. I uninstalled and and tried via DM 5.0 and the loader is telling me things aren't compatible with my device. So, I would like some help either:
    1) getting BBM5.0.8 installed or 2) getting back to BBM 4.0

Any of you experts wanna try and help? Thanks in advance.
You used the 5.0 BBM files? With you owning a Tour you would want to use the Tour OTA or ZIP file. But as Jlevy said, try a battery pull first

Let me clarify... I used the OTA link here: http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-gu...senger-883121/ I attempted the OTA link for the Tour found in this thread, but, can't get passed the WAITING... screen. Thoughts?

Battery pull yet? no...I'll give it a whirl. But, I think I'm actually between installs at the moment. I'm hoping that BB OS doesn't freak out like Windows does with reinstalls of the same thing over and over...

OK - here's a quick update. I found another OTA link for OmieTech 5.0.8.BBM for the Tour - downloaded, installed, and it's ALL GOOD!

But, all my contacts are gone. I'm assuming I can go to a recent backup and fetch them from there.

Glad to hear you have it working. Yes you can load a recent back up. In fact you could even just go to the advanced back up and restore to restore just that one database.

OK - this is wierd. I did the advanced route and attempted to restore the Blackberry Messenger DB - it shows 1 record when I actually have ~20 contacts. No big deal since I'm not sure what they are considering a record in this case. Restore...and I only get 2 contacts.

I even went back to my 8830 backup and tried to restore and only got 4 contacts - all of which were in a group called FAMILY. If it matters, this was always my first group, alphabetically.

    thoughts?

Did you double check as to what contacts were actually restored? I think I had something similar happen once but still had all the contacts I wanted.
