Well, there are a few out there. Would need to know who your carrier is and if your model 8130 is ESN or not, depends on how new I think, again I'm not as familiar with the Pearl but it appears something is out there and I downloaded from the blackberry.com site it's not a hybrid or leak as far as I know. Get back with me on this info and I'll link something here. It looks like 4.5.0.160 and 4.5.0.131 are out there depending on your device.

Here is OS version 4.5.0.160 from Alltel. You can install this OS on your device if you wish. Just be sure to delete the vendor.xml file.

That is frustrating. Here is something to try since you guys are running different OS's. Once again delete BBM off of your phone.

Since you are running 5.0 download the following OTA to your phone: http://www.theiexplorers.com/BBM/For_5.0.0/BBMen.jad

For your wifes phone, since she is on 4.7 she should use the following OTA:
http://www.theiexplorers.com/BBM/For_4.7.0/BBMen.jad

Once installed each of you do a battery pull and see if that helps.

can you please tell me if BBM is email or PIN driven (believe it is the latter)? Reason I ask is if you go back through the posts on this thread
several times I have remarked about how mine and my wife's contacts
keep getting merged on each others devices, which causes a conflict and
BBM stops working. Even more incredible is that her user name will become mine or vice versa. I (we) have deleted all of our contacts, re-installed numerous times and still end up with the same result... It is
very frustrating. Any suggestions before I downgrade? Thank you. :aargh4:

It is PIN driven....but with the new BBM, if you go into "edit my info" and scroll down to the bottom, the emails that you have on your BB are merged into bbm as well. So, I would think if you and your wife share emails, that might cause the issue. Try setting another one as default.

Thank you for the quick response... I deleted the joint email, restarted my BB, deleted BBM5.0 and again restarted. Just OTA'd and am adding contacts back in. Hopefully that will fix the problem, I really don't want to have to go back to the downgraded version.

I must say I am not impressed with BBM 4.7 on my Tour so I upgraded to 5.0

Still experiencing problems between both mine and my wife's storm. Have removed the joint email account from both and our contacts/screen names are still intertwined. Does anyone know how to remove an email association with BBM? I went into 'edit my info' and deactivated all my email addy's but that does not seem to help. This is a problem that just won't seem to go away...

You may want to think about doing a security wipe to clear the user settings of the device.

Yes do a back up first

To do the wipe on your phone go to

options-security-general settings-hit bb button and choose wipe handheld

Thanks to both of you... I will try it when I get home... This has been very frustrating as most of you at BBOS can attest to... Just can't get this figured out and I really don't want to have to downgrade my BBM...

In addition to everyone's suggestions, you removed the emails from your BIS service, correct? (not just phone?)

I would definitely suggest like MePascal and Bryan:

Double check your and your wife's BIS settings
Do a back up
Wipe and reload the OS
Do a security wipe
Install fresh copy of BBM BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 OTAs

I would even suggest writing down PINs/names, deleting all BBM back ups, and adding people manually.
