As Bryan said, you will have to repair the installation of the OS. I had no problem restoring BBM contacts from BBM 5 to 4.

OUt of curiosity, why did you go back to BBM 4?

Mainly because I didn't like how much more screen space BBM 5.0 takes up compared to the older version. BBM 5.0 contacts took up two lines instead of just one, and there was no way to change this. Same thing with messages, no way to change the layout to get rid of the "features" that take up more screen space. The other reason was that the servers being overloaded.

Hello guys, trying to load the bbm 5.0 onto a curve 8320, from what ive read here i need the OS .138 or higher, ive found .254 from smartone-vodaphone and another from at&t both attempts to upgrade the phone have resulted in the 561/507 error message. Not sure what the issue is but it seem the highest version my phone will take without a h itch is .58. Honestly not sure if im doing something wrong. Deleted the vendor.xml file and to no avail. any assitance would be appreciated. thanks

Welcome to BlackberryOS. 254 is the packge version, not the OS version. It's really .161 which is what I am running on my 8320. I downloaded mine from the carrier Hutchinson, you can get here if you don't have this one already. If that is the version you have installed on your computer, could you tell me more about the process you took installing that resulting in the error?

thanks for the welcome, yes, my apologies, it is as you say the .161 OS. Ive done this process before with older os's, this is the first time getting the error. simply i installed the package from SmarTone-Vodafone, deleted the vendor.xml file and was going through the usual ropes. after the loader says it erased the applications, the phone restarts, loader says it is loading application then, the error appears. alternating btw 561 and 507 when i reboot te poor phone. if i try to install the .161 OS again it will say there is no update available for the phone or sometimes it will start the process the say there was an error ipdating please try again. hope i gave you enough information. thanks in advance

Just a little more information if you could. What version of Desktop Manager are you using, and what OS are you running on your computer?

oh it seems to be working, I was, out of frustration, just constantly restarting the phone(battery pull or lt shift+alt+del) and trying the upgrade over and over. seems persistence pays off. thanks though for taknig the time to help

Hey good morning, my girlfriend has the blackberry curve 8900 v461114 and tried to download the new bbm on her phone through ota, but now the bbm icon isn't on her home screen but it is under the applications list. It told her to reboot her phone as usual but when it turned on, the icon wasn't there. I read on this thread that people using the 8900 download the ota link for the tour, but when she did that nothing happend at all. I downloaded the ota for the curve from there and it worked perfectly, but i have the 8320. If you guys could be of any help i would greatly appreciate it

Is the icon still in her applications folder?
If it is highlight no click the icon>bbkey>move to folder>put it where you would like

hey thanks for your input, but its not in that folder or anywhere in the homepage, its in the options folder under the advanced options where it says applications. She can see it on that list but not on her homepage. The weird thing is that i sent her a bbm a little earlier and it said it got delivered but not recieved, so shouldn't that mean that it's on her blackberry or something?

did she check all the folders on the home screen?
