Thread: BB Messenger Question

I have noticed that in changing in and out of 2 Curves, and then into the Storm, that I have never had to re-add any of my BB messenger contacts, they have always just switched over. But a few of my friends that have broken phones lately, when they got their new ones they had to send requests to everybody on their messenger list. Why is this happinging to them, but I never had to do it? I ask this in preparation for the switch to the Tour next month. It's gonna be a pain resending 50 requests. Is there a way to get around having to do that?

Make a backup of your Storm and when you get your new device go to your DM and Backup and Restore/Advanced and then in the left window at the top left choose "File" and select your backup.ipd. It will populate the window and you can choose to restore your BlackBerry Messenger file and this will restore your contacts. You can do the same for all the info you want to use out of your Storm.

I have done the backup before as BBC said and occasionally will still have a problem getting them to update. If any have a red circle with an x beside them, highlight them and hit menu > send pin update and that should clear them up. In a very few cases I have had to delete and reinvite them completely but the vast majority updated via the backup. Good luck.

You shouldnt and if you do, go to advanced under the Backup/Restore menu under DM. On the right it brings up what is on your device, and on the left you load up a recent backup that you have made and just drag you BBM contacts over. That should do it for ya. IF it happens the bad way

Same thing happens if you were to use the Switch Device wizard.
