Thread: RIM Officially Rolls Out BlackBerry App World v3.1.0.56

It seems as though RIM is pleased with App Worlds speed and performance adjustements that they made in the beta release just a few days ago. BlackBerry App World version 3.1.0.56 is now showing up as an official release. The biggest changes in the last beta release were to speed and performance. This was a breath of fresh air as we were so used to a slow, lagging App World.

If you're not seeing the update be patient it will come. In the meantime keep checking the official page here.

I have successfully updated BlackBerry App World to v3.1.0.56 (attached screenshot).

It's stable, and running much more smoother, definitely faster.

I tried updating appworld 3.1.0.56 this morning and the reboot was not successful.

I did the hard reboot several times (remove battery, wait for red to go out, hold escape).... to no avail.

I left the battery out for a long time and still didn't work (it just keeps cycling the reboot sequence).

If attempting to update via BlackBerry App World on your 9800 is unsuccessful, try updating BlackBerry App World by computer plugged in connecting your USB cable, for some reason some users may experience an easier time updating this way like I have.

Since my 9800 is stuck in reboot sequence loop, I didn't think it would be recognized via USB but will try.

Also, I should mention, make sure you have the BlackBerry AppWorld Plug-in 3.1.0.6 it makes the transition between your phone and BlackBerry App World much smoother to communicate, and their site.

I cannot get my bb to connect to the desktop now because the bb is stuck in a 'reboot loop'. What now?

Pull the battery, wait 30-60 seconds, put battery back in, connect the phone via USB cable, and make sure it connects to your computer, then log in to BlackBerry App World to install the update.

I am starting to suspect that it may be a possibility that an app you installed previously has been causing your Torch 9800 this issue of "reboot loop".

Problem is the process fails (torch won't connect to computer).... you're right though, the 'reboot loop' happened as a result of updating the latest BB App World.

Can you reboot your computer, wait till you see the main screen (while this is happening I would suggest you delete BlackBerry App World, reboot the Torch 9800, then plug in the phone, install from link top of this thread, or attempt to install OTA.

Firstly, thanks for your help. Unfortunately, no luck yet. I rebooted the pc, and torch, plugged in still no communication between the two. Not sure what 'link' you are referring to and I'm not sure what OTA is/does.

(I'm nearly ready to give up and upgrade to an OS7 phone, another torch or the bold. I had to send this phone away earlier this summer for a similar problem and it took them 8 weeks to turn around. )

Can you connect with USB while battery is out of device?

i may not have mentioned... I cant even boot to safe mode in order to uninstall anything (ie: last upgrade of BB App World which caused the problem.

Also, I WAS at least able to execute the following command on my pc to "see" the usb connected torch... but it showed that no software was installed.
