    i may not have mentioned... I cant even boot to safe mode in order to uninstall anything (ie: last upgrade of BB App World which caused the problem.

    Also, I WAS at least able to execute the following command on my pc to "see" the usb connected torch... but it showed that no software was installed.

    For windows... go to C://... Program files... Common files... Research in Motion... App Loader... then select loader.exe (its a little phone icon.

    Well I WAS able to (then it said that it did not detect any software), but just tried again and now it won't connect using loader.exe and responds with "there was a fatal error in trying to update your device software" then crashes... so now the answer to the q. is "no".
