Thread: BlackBerry Messenger 6 Rolling out on App World Now!

Well, its finally here folks! BlackBerry Messenger 6 has been released by RIM. To get the newest version of BBM6 check out the link below.

We are being updated to v6.0.0.125. As we all know, App World will do a rolling release. You may see something in 10 minutes or not till tomorrow morning. Keep your eyes peeled on App World and let us know what you think of this new launch.

Installed, restarted..... Appworld gone, phonebook won't open / gives an error (now missing all my contacts) and neither DM or Appworld (online) can get it running again :S
Oh, and BBM doesn't show as an icon but seems to be installed.

Found out I don't get any calls, mails or text either.
When some one calls me the phone rings on the other end but mine stays as if nothing happens.
Can't reinstall BBM or App World because my OS isn't recognized by RIM when I wanna do an OTA download. It tells me I can't install becaus BBM is missing, which I can't install because App Wolrd wont install.
Can't open my calender (to edit, delete or add items) can't open / compose new emails. I can text, thats it.
I guss I'll need to wipe my device when I get home and reinstall it all over again.

Got it too and its working great!
Atm i dont see a lot of visual differences with BBM 5, but i guess that will change when more and more apps will be integrated with the BBM 6.

I do have one Question though, hopefully someone can answer this for me:
With the BBM 5 it was possible to show you contacts what you are listning to (music) but that option is gone in BBM 6.
Is it still possible to set this up? (let is be so), and if so, how can I do it..

Please some feedback on this.

I got the same problem but it ended up being a SIM card error, so I did a battery pull and it fixed it up....

Overall I gotta say I'm disappointed with the release. This is pretty much the same version as .111 except with bug fixes which, while very solid, does not contain ANY of the new features we have been asking for for a long time. Yes BBM Social Platform is on it but a new version can at least contain some new features. Give me a change of the UI, new options, new layout, SOMETHING that I can identify this version as DIFFERENT.

I did more pulls in a day then I normaly do in a year.
This update messed up my phone in a BIG way.
Im all but happy with this.
/rant I guess it's just bad luck on my part, but a whole phone being useless? Come on man! NOTHING is working besides the on / off button. What the heck! No calls (incoming or outgoing) no text messages, emails, missing apps and app world, not being able to install anything and needing to wipe and upload everything again. Im a mad Cookiemonster!

I would love to see it work, maybe after the new install...

As pointed out by someone on Blackberry Beta, there is issues sending pictures to BBM contacts. The only pictures that I can send are those that are on the phone or saved in the library. I am unable to send my profile image or any image that someone else has sent me and I haven't yet saved in my phone. The error "The Media Object is Invalid." is displayed whenever I try to send one of the above images.

The option of "Show what I'm listening to" has also been removed from the profile.

RIM has purposely removed this feature and you guys will find out why next week....

'show what I'm listening' is missing in BBM6. This is a bug or I get wrong install?

I just installed (updated) to BBM6, and so far so good and stable
