Default Blackberry Messenger Beta Zone Upgrade - v5.0.1.32

Well guys, it looks as if we have a new beta version of BlackBerry Messenger. It was just announced that v5.0.1.32 is now available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone. It is ready for download and RIM is looking for our help to beta test some of its new features. So far some reports are coming back with good news on the new versions speed. More details from the new Blackberry Messenger will have to wait for another time. Get to your Beta Zone account and upgrade your BBM, as soon as possible.

Also do not forget that you will need to reenter your your Keycode. The Keycode for your BBM Beta should have been sent to you via email when you originally started the BBM Beta. With out that Keycode, you will not be able to use the new beta. If you are a beta tester, let us know what you think of the new version.[INDENT]

Here are some of the Known Issues that RIM is working to fix on BlackBerry Messenger:

    ---------------------------------------------------
    Issues with BlackBerry® Messenger v5.0.1.17:
    Chats:

    • In some cases, if you have BlackBerry® Device Software 4.7.1 or lower, you might not be able to preview messages that you type in the chat field. Workaround: You can remove and reinsert the device battery and type your message again.
    • You cannot send files to contacts in a multiperson chat. Workaround: You can send files to contacts individually or you can share pictures within a group.

    General:

    • Emoticons, including flags, that are in a contact or member's display name might not appear outside of chats or group chats.

    Groups:

    • If a member shares a picture after the picture limit for the group has been reached, the picture replaces an older one but the picture counter might incorrectly update to one more than the group limit.
    • If you are using a BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 smartphone, group chat bubbles might be partially cut off.
    • If a member shares a picture after the picture limit for the group has been reached, the picture replaces an older one but the picture counter might incorrectly update to one more than the group limit.
    • Shared pictures might appear as white squares in a group.
    • If you set the option in a group to save pictures that members share to a media card, and if you share a picture with the group from the Camera application, an extra copy of the picture might appear on your media card. Workaround: You can share pictures from the pictures section of a group.
    • If you share an existing appointment with a group, a duplicate appointment appears in the Calendar application on your device. Workaround: To avoid duplicate calendar entried, you can create an appointment from within a group and share it with members.
    • If you click View Calendar from a group update, the calendar incorrectly displays today's date.
    • If you register an email address that uses a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server with BlackBerry® Messenger, wipe your device, add new contacts or groups, and register the email address with BlackBerry® Messenger again, your previous groups might not be recovered. Workaround: You can try asking a person from the group to removed you from the group and invite you again.

Here are some of the features that the community has requested and RIM will most likely work to add or remove from BBM:

    • Proximity Sensor
    • Alert when a contact returns to the conversation
    • Auto idle
    • Share your BlackBerry Messenger status with Twitter
    • More emoticons
    • Customizable emoticons
    • Increase the file transfer size
    • Ability to change the size of display pictures
    • Show display picture when inviting a contact
    • Option to hide display pictures
    • Option to turn off broadcast messages
    • Ability to choose a background color for each contact
    • A BlackBerry Messenger setup wizard to customize notifications, images, save to SD, etc.
    • Integration with other IM clients
    • A desktop version of BlackBerry Messenger

I'm hoping to see the ability to change font colors, animated icons, and an ignore feature for specific contacts.

Yeah, they close the Beta. If you were not a beta tester for 5.0.1.17, then you can not join now. Sorry. Hopefully it wont be long before the public sees this new beta.

Wow, I signed up about two weeks ago for the BBM beta program and got into the it when it was still 5.0.1.17. I've got the new one. I kinda liked the larger bubbles in 5.0.1.17. it makes it easier to read... less busy. happy medium would be nice. Or maybe the gaps between the bubbles got bigger. IDK

Over all performance is fast and the normal display bugs have been fixed. (like when switching from portrait to landscape)

Recently the performance in BBM has been sluggish. I, like those running bbm 5.0.0.57, Experienced lag and delay of delivery as well. I think it was a server problem. seems to have been resolved.

    9550 5.0.0.320 - .428 - .517 - .607- back to .517, .713
is my favorite place to be!

Not to be a stick in the mud here guys and gals but be careful on what you say about the beta's. RIM does monitor these sights and we did "sign" the confidentiality agreement.
