Default Is this the first BBX smartphone?

Dubbed the BlackBerry "London," the above picture is said to be what to first BBX device will look like. With many of these "leaks," we do suggest you take this with a grain of salt as this is literally the first picture ever put out that claims to be of a BBX phone. This picture could be of an early prototype that will never see the light of day, just like it could be the actual phone we'll see next year. Only time will tell. For now though, let's take a look at what could be possibly coming to BlackBerry die-hards worldwide next Summer (yep, release is scheduled for June 2012, not Q1).

The similarities between the OS we see in the picture and what we've grown use to with the PlayBook Tablet OS are definite visible. The addition of BBM, in the homescreen worries me a little about this potentially being fake. Nonetheless, RIM could have a working version of BBM on BBX that we just don't know about.

According to the leaker, this BBX phone is said to have a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board memory, 8mp rear and 2mp front-facing cameras. The BlackBerry "London" is said to be thinner than the iPhone 4S and about the approximate size of the Galaxy S II.

The design of the phone resembles the Porsche exclusive BlackBerry P9981 and contains what looks like a small bezel around the edges. The BlackBerry "London" also has no buttons as we've been told multiple times it wouldn't. All in all, it does look a lot like a PlayBook in a smartphone style.

I personally am in love with the sleek and simple look of not only the phone but the OS. It's not often we get a single clear picture that shows off both the hardware and software so if this turns out to be true, we are extremely thankful for the leak. Many have been doubting RIM's ability to put out a quality phone with their BBX lineup. Truth be told it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if this was an "intentional" leak to get the masses to start talking about what's to come to the BlackBerry world.

Also noteworthy, this is actually a dummy phone... meaning its not ACTUALLY running anything in this picture which would explain why the screen doesn't look AS vivid as it will be.

More than that. There is camera lens but no flash. The logo looks like it was pasted onto the picture. It's not even straight. I'm not buying it.

Why would there be flash on a front facing camera?

According to BGR its real Leaked BlackBerry London is real, launching in Q3

I like it. Most phones today look identical except for their branding; I'm glad RIM didn't follow that trend. So I hope its real.

The phone just looks ugly with the grey top an bottom. Makes it look disproportionate.

    Me no like it....

When photos of the porsche device leaked, many were convinced it was gonna be the first BBX device. My guess is someone photo shopped this. I dont think RIM would ever make that much of a drastic change to their device image

Well the whole color thing I wouldn't be too worried about... The first time the PlayBook was seen it was blue if I'm not mistaken so the colors could be changed easily.

I personally love the look because it goes against everything RIM has done before. They need a new look, a new beginning and a new brand. It's about time they caught up to the real world and realized when people want a touchscreen device, they want it to be big.

Moreover, if the BBX OS is what is being promised to be, then they could hand me the ugliest phone and I would be happy with it. I'd rather have a brick looking phone that does some amazing things, than a gorgeous looking phone that freezes and lacks in many aspects (See Bold 9700, Torch 9800; etc).

I prefer a more curved look instead of the angles. Can't wait to see what the final production build looks like. Hope they show it off at CES!

it will probably have the color scheme of the Porsche model, which to me is quite distinct but assertive. Gives me the impression of a quality device. All black just isn't that impressive to me.

Hey now, don't hate on the 9700. My phone is awesome. Maybe it was just operator error

And I agree with RIM needing a new-ish look. But I've been down the full touchscreen phone road (*shudder*) and it didn't end well. Nothing will ever beat a full QWERTY keyboard, if you ask me. Bold 9900 here I come Best of both worlds.

On another note. I do think this phone is really awesome looking. One thing I would change is to make the black portion equal on all four sides. I'm far too OCD to handle the inequality in any sort of graceful manner.

Well even more reason to actually have a front facing flash. People are going to be using that to take pictures of themselves, and they definitely won't want the picture to turn out too dark.

I'd actually prefer more useful screen over design. Like the recent showed with screen taking up the entire front of the device.
