i tried it a cople of times, and it doesnt work. anyone know how to remove the cod file?

Um, there is no COD file for this hack. It's just service books. You would have to either go to the Service Book options and delete the books it added, which could be dangerous. Or use advanced back up and restore in DM to clear the service book database on your phone, then resend your service books.

Same thing happened to me, just resending services books didn't work. What I had to do was delete all MMS services books and then resend em, works fine for me now.

Try going into the service book options on your phone, delete the MMS entry and resend your service books. This is one of the reasons I am against this trick. It overwrites your MMS and email service books, and then adds a browser from a Chinese carrier.

Easy install.....very good post. Thanks bbprintz and especially thank you omnie!! Be patient with your icons coming back. You may have to do a battery pull or two after registering them with host routing table.

This just made me register an account on this forum.

1. Works amazingly well!!!! downloading files i never thought i would be able to.

2. email continued to work for me i use one email account BES(dont know if that has anything to do with it.) i was not able to send emails with large attachements however i didn't expect that this would allow that. i check downloading attachments as well and was still not allowed to download an attachement exceeding 3.0MB.

3. MMS did stop working not that i ever use it. lol. who doesn't have a BB? i pin to anyone i need to send media. simply fixed by re registering on the rogers network.

if someone can think of anything else this might have messed up i would be glad to test it.

BTW i didn't have to reset my device at all durring the process from begging to end.

Big thanks to any and all involved in this discovery.

OK OK so I got it to work ---- remember, I am on T-Mobile so its different and I think people can benefit from my fix and I NEVER uses APN settings, they are just not needed with TMobile 99% of the time (and yes setting up the email accnt app will work if u sit and wait long enough, but this is a side bar....anyway)

Follow the original instructions listed

So you installed the .ipd file via DM which was basically a new SVC book file --- great
Then you took to your Browser and notice in General options you can select NET BROWSER --- select this in GENERAL SETTINGS. Then exit browser.

So if you want to use yer browser to dload big files then you must go to options/advanced options/TCP/IP and select the APN box and type "wap.voicestream.com" do this only if you want to use the browser the NET Browser. NOW REALIZE that just because when you open your browser the word "edge" is in lowercase doesnt mean it isnt going to work. OK????? It will remain in lower case edge while you browse.
If you want your service books back youR BEST bet is to go to the TMobile Website -- https://my.t-mobile.com -- sign in and send them from there.
Whats funny is that you need to un-check the APN setting box in the TCP/IP settings before receiving your service books from tmobile so you can have that "type" of data connection--- I know, sux ---

YES, A HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS AND SINCE IM NOT 3G ILL PROLLY NEVER USE IT. HAHAH But at least I know I can whenever I want now.

JUST REMEMBER T-MOBILE USERS == wap.voicestream.com --- this is the APN setting you will ever need --- BUT trust me, if you are just doing regular browsers, SMS and MMS you will not need to check the APN box

Have you ever tried downloading something to your Blackberry through the native browser and been unable to because of the size of the file? The problem is that the Blackberry Browser limits the download size to files 2.3mb or smaller. This usually is not a problem for most things mobile. But lets say you wanted to download a large .pdf, or a PowerPoint, or anything that is larger than the browser limit: you can’t. 0mie over at 0mietech has found a work around to this limitation. No longer does one have to install Opera Mini in order to install a larger sized file. It can be done right in the native Blackberry Browser.

The reason for the limitation is that RIM sets its WAP and Internet to a specific port. It is literally impossible to download anything larger than the 2.3mbs because that is the port limit. For an explanation in laymen’s terms, try parking a Hummer in a garage that is meant for a sports car, you won’t be able to do it. Therefore, in order to download files larger than 2.3mbs through the browser, the port in which the browser accesses must be changed. In order to do so, follow these steps

1. Go to options > advanced options > service books. Then hold ALT and type SBEB, if you have a QWERTY keyboard. For Storm users ATL 4?2? should work. I am not sure how to do it for Surepress. Then you should get the pop up that you see below.

2. Once you have completed step 1 and have gotten the above pop up, you are ready to open the Desktop Manager. Go to Backup/Restore > Advanced > Open the .ipd file that is linked HERE.

3. On the left hand box go to file open, select the .ipd file, open it and send it to your phone. Then disconnect the phone from your computer.

4. Open the native browser on your phone and go to Options > General Properties. There should be a new option called “NET Browser” in the Default Browser drop down. You are now set to begin downloading files of any size!

5. On your first download you will get one of those agreement pop ups. This is just saying RIM is not responsible for anything third party that you download. Click “I Agree”

If for some reason you lose your email addresses just resend your service books again. If you are not sure how to do this it is: Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Tables. Then click the BB button and there is an option to “Register Now”. It may not take the first time, but it does take a few minutes to happen.

So there you go. Once you have completed the described steps you will be able to download files of all types and sizes. I just want to give a nod to 0mie. This is all of his work and the images are from his site. Great find 0mie! And the top image is a 130mb file download, just some proof that it works!

It is strongly recommended that you are comfortable doing something like these and if you have ANY doubts or questions, do not do it until those issues are resolved.

Hey, thank you. It worked, but i do no tlike the idea of having 2 browser icons and also to change the default service book.

Tell me that how do i revert back to the old settings, I do not have a backup

How did you get a second browser icon? I'd love to get that so i don't have to keep changing the default settings. I know my work bb has two browser icons but that's on BES. If I could get a net browser icon added to my storm it'd be sweet.

they have a free 7 day trial but as far as i know there is no free version to file manager pro

Hey buddy

thanks for sharing this. It has made my life so beautiful. First i was egged on to have courage and do the browser fix which i did successfully and now this. Man i am rolling. Dont take me wrong yes i am not as tech savvy as you guys but you know what i dont give a damn as i have you guys to support and direct us. Wooww thanks blackberryos :hail:
