Thread: Curve 8900 won't turn on

So I have this curve from a family friend and it just died out of no where on her and it wont come on, I get a solid red light when I plug it into my computer without the battery in and the same with the battery in but the red light sometimes goes off, now I tried my storm battery in it and it has a red light on that blinks but for longer period then a normal red or green blink, can anyone help?

Unfortunately it doesn't sound like there's a whole lot you can do other than trying to wipe it and reinstall the OS. The good news is that you are getting that red light. So the device is getting power, the battery isn't bad. Just bricked.

any info on UN bricking phones? I know there is somewhere, can anyone help??

Try taking the battery out of the phone, then connect it to your computer.

Still wont see the phone, my computer makes that doo doo noise a lot so it must see it and then rapidly not see it over and over, red light on for a few and then off... I had the app error 523 with an old curve and I was able to get it through apploader but this time its not the case...

Try this. Unplug your phone, restart your computer, and as it's restarting, plug your phone in.

no such luck, I wish my old desktop with xp was up and running but its got some problems and I dont have an xp disk to reload it.

even with vista 64bit? because I could not load a hybrid or anything onto my storm no matter what I tried... I'm not doing anything wrong.

no pin comes up for anything with the 8900, just plugged in my storm and my computer sees it no problem at all.

I'm gonna see if anyone else has ideas for you.

SMcoldBB helped me with my storm... dont wanna ask for help, my XP system will be up and running sooner or later but I'd like to be able to use a phone sooner then later..

so my computer will now see the 8900 but BBSAK, apploader, and DTM will not see it, comes up as pin "unknown" for bbsak and just nothing for DTM and unknown for apploader.

I'm quoting your original post because the light pattern you speak of sounds like a dead battery.

and since you say the device won't turn on, my question is when was the last time it was charged for several hrs?
