Thread: Hybrid Installation Instructions

Steps to install a hybrid. First you should have a base os installed on your pc which you can get from here. OS Downloads
After you installed a os ( Firmware) to your pc you will need to located the hybrid you want to install. Since most of the hybrids are zipped you will need WinRAR Next backup your apps with BBSAK

REMEMBER TO BACK UP

Plug your device up to PC and don't remove until completely finished

1. Back up your device using Desktop Manager (open DM > backup & restore > back up):





AFTER YOU BACKUP YOUR DEVICE USE BBSAK TO BACK UP APPS

AFTER BACKUP USE WIPE DEVICE USING BBSAK OR JL CMDR

AFTER WIPE DEVICE YOU WILL SEE A ERROR 507 ON YOUR PHONES SCREEN. THIS MEANS THERE IS NO OS INSTALLED ON YOUR PHONE.

BEFORE U LOAD YOUR HYBRID TO YOUR PC YOU WILL NEED TO GO TO YOUR OS FOLDER AND DELETE EVERYTHING IN IT.

DOWNLOAD YOUR HYBRID YOU WISH TO INSTALL. EXTRACT IT TO YOUR OS FOLDER.

Now you are ready to install the hybrid OS onto your device. The simplest way is to follow this path: C: > program files > common files > research in motion > app loader > and double click the loader icon that looks like a phone. This is a good time to double check in this same folder and make sure vendor.XML has been deleted.
OR USE BBSAK CLICK LOAD OS. RUN APP LOADER









WHEN U GET TO THIS SCREEN SELECT THE FACTORY APPS YOU WANT INSTALLED. DO NOT RESTORE YOUR OTHER APPS AT THIS TIME.JUST OS ONLY
AFTER YOUR RAN YOUR APP LOADER AND ONLY LOADED OS GO BACK TO APP LOADER TILL U GET TO THIS SCREEN

IF YOUR APPS DOESN'T LOAD UP AUTOMATICALLY TO THIS SCREEN. HIT BROWSE THEN BROWSE TO BBSAK FOLDER. SELECT THE FOLDER LABELED BACKUP. OPEN IT THEN HIGHLIGHT ALL YOUR APPS IN THAT FOLDER THEN CLICK OPEN. IT MAY TAKE A MIN FOR IT TO LOAD UP YOUR APPS. NEXT SELECT THE APPS U WANT AND HIT NEXT AND LOAD TO YOUR DEVICE.
AFTER U LOADED APPS GO BACK TO DM AND RESTORE YOUR LATEST BACKUP.
AFTER YOU RESTORED YOUR DEVICE PULL BATTERY THREE TIMES. LEAVE BATTERY OUT FOR A MINUTE EACH TIME. I USUALLY WAIT AFTER MY SECURITY SCREEN SHOWS UP AND PHONE SETTLE A LITTLE TO DO OTHER PULLS.
When everything is complete, restored, etc. I like to do the following things: a. options > advanced > host routing table > menu key > register now; b. call *228 option 1, then repeat and select option 2; c. resend service books; d. battery pull

I have tried installing hybrid, I could not find the files to delete. I am using vista blackberry desktop 5.0

where would I find them.

I have tried to reinstall my backups but the desktop or bbsak can not find the device now. bbsak will re wipe out and it restarts but it still does not see the device when i try install os

Try with DM4.7 buddy and don't forget to uninstall your DM5.0 first...

do i need to backup my app if im moving from 8820 to 9530?
dosent make sense

If you are switching devices DO NOT, back up your apps.
The apps you have on your current device may not load properly onto your new device.
