Thread: How to: Customize BlackBerry Email Icons

Hi every one, trying to keep my mind busy tonight, i found this great tutorial and decided to share what i found

Just a little dissclaimer: try this at your own risk

You'll need BBFileScout to do this.

Make your Email Folder Accounts looks like this


Customize Email Icons

1. Determine your email’s UID in Options > Advanced Options > Service Book > Select the email you’d like to customize > Note the email’s UID



2. Go into BBFileScout > SDCard> BlackBerry > Directory where you save the icon > Highlight an icon > Press BB menu > Select Store ‘icon.png’ on stack



3. Go back to BBFileScout first screen and go into Store > Appdata > RIM > BDA > Icons > Create a directory and name it under your email’s UID > Copy the ‘icon.png’ into the directory > rename the icon to: 1-80-80 (Bold & Jave) 1-58-43 or 1-48-36 (83xx) 1-73-73 (Storm) -If you can’t find BDA and Icons directory, just create one



4. Reboot your device for the changes to take effect Good Luck..

I have changed the yahoo's icons using your instructions direct from the PC, but how can I push this icon to a BB, for example if I own a pop server how can I push my icons as yahoo do it...?

now this will only work if you use the email icon right? in other words i use a combined folder for emails and sms's. can we change that one as well or is it just the specific email folder icon?

i tried it but it didnt work, tried both sets of numbers i dont know why, but i have 2 bb emails, 1 is CICAL and the other is CMIME, both have the same UID.......any ideas anyone? thanx in advance

Works good here. how did you create the icons?? i would like to experiment with the icons some. i used the windows live, bb, and gmail ones.

you make sure they were .png? i tried other file formats and they didnt work.

i used the ones he provided and there all .png's....

Jmu33 make sure you're replacing in the correct folder
Store/app data/rim/dba/icons/your email/ rename the icons acording to your device.

Cat this will work for the emails accounts only.

i did, i tried both of the names under the 83xx......repeated the whole procedure twice just to make sure i did it right......thanx tho

jmu33, CICAL is your calendar that is associated with the emails you have. That would not be the one.
