Ok. on your PC go to start>control panel>add remove programs. You should see two blue blackberry icons one for desktop software and one for the new operating system. If you have more than 2 delete the old operating system program. If you only have the two symbols then go to start and type vendor in the search bar and if something shows up right click it and delete it. Then empty recycle bin and restart pc.

Let us know what you find out.

My next suggestion would be to delete the os in add/remove programs then restart procedure from there. in the meantime i will see if i can find out what that error is.

What do you do right before this error pops up?

There are a few reasons, knowing your steps helps narrow it down.

Ok. I know you've probably gone through the steps again, but try this.

Remove all OS's, Desktop Managers, anything RIM related. Another place to check for leftover RIM files, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\ <-- List every folder you have in this directory in a new post.

    We'll go from there.

Well, if you uninstalled your OS - then those should have disappear. Erase the 9550AMEA_v5.0.0.517_P4.2.0.250 folder, then reinstall everything and try again.

If you are running Windows 7 make sure you run the installers as Administrator.

When re-installing everything, follow the guide from the very beginning.

We'll get this resolved for you. I am confident this will work, if it doesn't and you are comfortable with this type of resolution, I can log into your computer with LogMeIn and attempt to re-install your OS for you.

Just because I know what it feels like to not have a phone (it sucks)..

LogMeIn provides you with 100% control over me, so there is no way I can do anything to hurt you, I just wanted to reassure you of this. If you want to do this method - PM me, I don't want any details over public forums.
