Thanks - I did go to RIM Geeks and saw that they had a preview of the next version and the button is back.

Using DM now to install the ALX.

Thanks for the confirmation that I wasn't going crazy or blind. :omfg:

we were trying to make the restore process 1 step since you have to restart after the load os and u have to restart after the old way of restoring apps... now its just 1 reset

I like it without. I can just reload my apps while using apploader to install my OS. I click add at the top then navigate to the backup folder and voila....only one reset like you said.

I do my 3 battery pulls after restoring and sending service books.

neo,thank you very mich i am new to these forums and i have learned a great deal from you and all other members. i had a 8830 curve and loved it, it is a workhorse, and i wanted the tour so bad that i paid the price of a 1 yr update ($335+++) plus now i see that the storm 2 is coming out, and quess what i will buy it too. because i can get more things on it than the tour. MY rep from verizon had the first storm and then went back to the curve now he is back to the storm. i do have big fingers so i am npot sure the storm is for me . but i will buy it anyway. once again a great big THANK YOU!!!! PLEASE give me any good suggestions on where i can dl the newest os w/o losing anything good!

Neo,

Awesome tutorial!!! I was wondering how to do this. I'm coming from the WinMo side and was pretty adept at doing it but BB has always scared me. Thanks for the info. It is greatly appreciated.

1. Are you using XP or Vista?
If Vista then try running as administrator.

2. Have you restarted your PC?

3. You are double clicking the Phone icon like in the pic in the guide right?

re App Loader Failure

Hi Neo - running XP / restarted computer - no change - then went back and reinstalled 191 then rewrote 230 over it (which put back the RIM Internal tools I had deleted) - but still no response when I double click the app loader icon. I then tried DM to see if it recognized my unit but it could not connect (no pin) What are my options - please help - noel

So, you double click the icon and nothing happens?

It sounds like a PC issue because the program should run.

My advise is, if possible, to try another PC and see if you can get better results.

Another problem is of course the DM not recognizing the device. Try another PC if you can.

I have two questions: 1.I want to back up my contacts. Do i do that thru DM as a backup? I am about to wipe the phone and do not want to do a mistake. 2. I have to reinstall the Blackberry Messenger again or just do a restore?

1. You should do the DM backup and the BBSAK to backup apps

This will backup everything

2. When you are loading the OS one of the check boxes will be BBM, just choose it and it will load.
