Upgrade to OS 5.0 with BBSAK 1.5 and DM 5.0

    Hi Neo,

Thank you for this tutorial. I'm a new user with 8520 os ver 4.6. I downloaded your ver 5.0.o.238 version and update using this tutorial. Unfortunately I found some problem here.
    1. Application Desktop Manager v.5.0 doesn't have any folder called AppLoader, so to load new OS from you I used Application Loader from DM. but failed, i still connected to internet and it directly installed again to version 4.6 online then I read BBSAK starting ver 1.3 able to load OS and directly backup 3rd applications. So i change step load OS using BBSAK's AppLoader instead DM's. And BBSAK load OS function working very well, i got version 5.0.0.238 on my 8520 now, but...
    2. LOAD OS BBSAK version 1.5 problem, it doesn't restore all my 3rd applications. I don't have no idea if i have to install it one by one using load COD. i hope there will be fix on next version.

Overall this thread is really helpful!!
Hopefully there will be more update on 8.5.x.x version

    Regards,

    Welcome to !

First problem: Sounds like you are not looking in the correct folder for the app loader. If you have Desktop Manager installed, this folder will exist. The folder path is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

If you are using a 64bit OS, it will actually look like this: C:\Program Files\Common Files (x86)\Research In Motion\AppLoader

As for your second issue, make sure you have the latest version of BBSAK installed.

When you choose the back up option, it should create a folder called Backup in the BBSAK program files folder. In this folder will be COD files for for your apps and an ALX file. Use app loader again to install the ALX. When you get to the apps screen in app loader, click on add and select the ALX file.

    Hi Sunkast,

    Thanks for your help.
Sorry I wasn't look folder path for apploader very detail. But fortunately BBSAK ver 1.5 already pointed to that path when we select "Load OS" function.

I just knew it that I can choose ALX file to install 3rd application. The restore process it self was worked well. But when I open Office to go i got this error message "uncaught exception: net.rim.device.api.i18n. MissingResourceExecption"

Beside that I found VoiceDialling doesn't work on OS 5.0.0.238

I would suggest you uninstall all OS's from your computer, and reboot. Then wipe your phone, install the OS back to your computer, and then back to your phone.`

    Sunkast,

I only have one installed OS on my computer. Do i need to uninstall it after wiping?

After OS get installed which one I need to do first: recover *.ipd from DM or recover 3rd application?

    thanks

First you should uninstall the OS from your computer before you wipe your phone.

After you get the OS installed back to your phone, you can recover your applications, and then your IPD.
