You are more than likely just unplugging it too quick.
After that box comes up saying wipe complete, leave it alone for a few minutes. Dont even click OK.

After a few minutes then click OK, again leave it alone for two minutes and then the phone will reboot.

hi neo i m in india n i m using bb storm 9500 .. i wana know that is there upgrade from 4.7 to 4.8 or 5.0 for my storm if there then plzzz help me ... nad also my screen is acting wiers ,, there si not responce for the first touch sometime ..

hi i have a problem i was following the steps and got to number 4 but than in app loader in device app selection instead of going strate to the os system for me it went to the back up app i had stored earlier so now i have no os system on my bb pearl8120

Hi guys, great guide. Simple to follow... just wished it worked for me.

I'm using a Storm 9520, have followed the first 3 steps without any hitch... done the Device OS installation on my computer...

BUT. when i use the App Loader to install the OS onto my phone, it just hangs on the "Updating your device" screen. seems to me that the computer is having a hard time connecting to the phone's boot ROM.

Tried about 15 times so far and the same thing happens. :aargh4: I would appreciate any kind of help i can get. URGENT!

How long do you wait when it hangs?

definitely more than 90 mins... with the longest being 4 hours...

dyzfnktn, have you restarted your PC, and tried from there?

When you start, does the phone display the error 507?

Is the USB connected to a port that supplies enough power? Sometimes the ports in front of a PC give me errors.

Try all of those again, hope that helps

i have tried what u mentioned countless times. does it matter if im running windows as a virtual machine on a mac?

everytime i do this, i dont know why bbsak fails to restore my apps. i am using bbsak 1.7 because the link above is not working.

i managed to obtain bbsak 1.5 from another source and restoring third party apps didnt work for me either. so i just restored each app painstakinly one by one.

why it is advised to delete the vendor.xml file while updating OS if the OS is not from your carrier, what is the logic behind this, and what happens if one update the OS without deleting the vendor.xml file ?

The vendor file is carrier specific. If you install the wrong vendor file it is a good chance that the phone will not function properly.

I have tried this update several times, but when I get to the app loader page, there are not any OS's at the top of the list. All it has are just my apps that I installed. I did everything right. I dont understand why I cant seem to get the update loaded.

Have you deleted the vendor file from the desktop?

Sorry it does not unlock your berry.
Verizon is also a CDMA carrier so you get lots of problems after their phones are unlocked.
Is the Indian carrier CDMA or GSM (EDGE/3G)?
There are a lot of options for unlocking, check one of the staffs signatures on this site.

To obtain an unlock code for your BlackBerry: You will need to know your IMEI number for your BB. Look at Options/Status. The IMEI may also be found on the white sticker under the battery.
Most carriers will give you the unlock code for your BB. Some have policies that vary from having an active account in good-standing (good payment history) to having been a customer for 90 days or more.

You can purchase the unlock code from various vendors. These listed below are reputable vendors with good feedback from users
