okay...let's put it on your device then. So currently you do not have an OS installed to your device. I think your last issue was due to the fact that .148 was on your device and .151 was on your Desktop Manager.

So..Now there is not an OS installed on your PC, yet you have .151 on your PC. Is this the OS you want on your device?

Just so I am clear with you...The file I sent you in the email only allows the PC to reconfigure the Mass Media Mode. Your first issue was that Your PC did not recognize your Device. So you ran the .bat file and we solved that. The next issue is where we got a little sidetracked. .148 was on you device and .151 was installed on your Desktop Manager...That's where the second problem reared it's ugly head. The difference in the two did not effect the Backup file of the 3rd party app because that application is not OS dependent. Yet when you wanted to create a backup of the device with the two different OS's trying to talk to each other, well you got your errors that you were seeing. Does that clear it up.

Now we can install .151 onto your PC then install it to your Device if you like. Your PC will generate it's own back up called a LoaderBackup(2009.xx.xx).ipd file while upgrading your device. Or we can install .148 back onto your PC then perform the backup, uninstall .148, reinstall .151 and perform the upgrade. We will do as you like...

ok downloaded .151 from megadownload. deleted vendor file.
    empied recycle bin> restarted computer.

    then
    program files>common files>rim>app loader>loader>loader wizard comes up.

i notice only 2 instead of 3 things come up read application config and read device systemconfig. Then all my apps come up but no core installs. i hit next and it says no update required.

Search your PC for vendor.xml...You said you were using Vista. This OS has been known to keep a copy of the vendor.xml hidden. Find it, delete it, then empty recycle bin.
Disconnect your PC from the internet as well the next time your run the Loader.exe

yes .151 is now on phone.

i open dm>select applications>add remove applications>it goes through connecting to phone gets to reading applications and a pop up window comes up saying that dm has encountered a problem and needs to close.
    then it does.

Did you restore all your apps and settings to your phone? Does the same error occur with your other phone?

Alright, I have two ideas you could try. One is more destructive than the other.

First would be to uninstall DM, reboot, then go to the location where DM would be installed and make sure there isn't anything left over. Delete any files that may be left over. Then reinstall DM.

    Similar problem -

I go through the device switch wizard process, and when I search PC for the pin number folder it still only finds the one created the last time I backed up 3rd party apps. Usually during the device switch process, you can see the names of your app files zip across the screen. This time I don't see that - still goes through 'read device system...', 'read device service...', but I don't see the app files shoot across, and I don't get the PIN folder generated. Is the answer a corrupt app, and that I have to delete apps 1 by 1 until I get a good backup?

OS on device - Lyricidal latest hybrid 6v6?
    DM is 5.0.0.11
