How to install new Blackberry Messenger using DM...includes pics, 5 min process

thanks alot i hav got a back up but i dnt know what file has my contacts details and i try to put restore the blackberry messenger file but still no luck also after upgrading to the OS 5 on to the blackberry i cant seems to make or recieve any thing my network shows fuil reception but wen i make a call it fails... im on vodafone in the uk ive tried changing and serachin for my mobile network but noting works any idea whats rong?

Welcome to BBOS. You most likely don't have the OS for your phone installed on your computer. Are you using a Tour? It would be helpful if you could fill out the other 3 questions, carrier, mode, OS version as asked of in the first post.

I have been running BBM 5.0 on my AT&T Bold for a month or so with no problems.

After I downloaded the official AT&T release of 4.6.0.297 yesterday, the update downgraded my BBM back to 4.6.

Now none of the methods in this forum are working, and I can't seem to get BBM 5.0 up and running again. I keep getting the "Application is not compatible" error.

Anyone else having this problem?

Select Browse and Navigate to the folder that you made and put the blackberry messenger alx and cods files. (I navigated to my documents and then bbm)

After you finish step nine you are nearly home free. The next step is to press the Next Button and DM will install this file and reboot your Blackberry.

I'm new to your site in past had BBM 5.0 running on my BB upgraded to 5.0.0.190 wasn't happy with the OS went back to .100 and now can not for the life of me get BBM 5.0 back on my BB with a icon to BBM 5.0.

Would somebody please tell me what I'm, doing wrong.

Welcome to BlackberryOS. If you install BBM 5.0, but can't find the icon, it usually means you have the incorrect version installed. This happens if you try to install say the version for OS 4.6 on a phone running OS 5.0. For OS 5.0, you need to install the version that is for that particular OS version. Try the OTA link I have below. It should work for you hopefully.

have you checked in the downloads folder?

then check all the folders if not there...unhide all your icons too by pressing the bb key and show all

Just went back to the stock os download with stock BBM icon shows. Did the ota you provided the install went fine. No icon I am also not getting the confirmation email.

Did you check every folder and all the way down the home page after you "show all" in your settings?

does it say 4.7 or 5.0 in the application information?

You could also try the desktop install, some people have had problems with the OTA's.....It's zipped

Lindsey I just checked with my IT guy and he has said that the fact you are on BES could be preventing you from getting BBM 5 on your phone after downgrading. But that being said, you were able to get it on before. I would hate have you wipe your phone and reload your OS. Best thing might be to check with your IT dept and find out if there is anything on their hand preventing this from happening.

I just ruled that out did a soft wipe on the BB then reinstalled using the App Loader same thing. Could you give me the step by step instructions on loading BBM 5.0 using the desktop maybe I'm missing something? or doing something wrong.

I gave up on 5.0.0.100 and loaded the latest 4.6 beta manually loaded BBM 5.0 for 4.6 on the desktop and guess what I now have BBM 5.0. There must be something with 5.0.0.100. :haha:

Im trying to install bbm 5 but it doesnt work, through dm, i get a message that says that the program is not compatible, and on the ota i get this message "907 Invalid COD. Cannot import file ZIP "
-my os is 4.6.0.167
-carrier att
-BB Bold.

I just installed it on my friends t-mobile bold and it worked fine. I also tried wipping out the bb and reinstalling dm. I dont know what is going on, I would really appreciate any help! thanks very much!
