I think you will want to update your OS first.. 4.5.0.160 is the most current. Here is a link https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E607FE7CC0E1A0
If you follow smcoldbb's post above, you can install a more recent OS version which will allow you to install BBM 5.0. You will not be able to install BBM 5.0 unless you upgrade the OS on your phone.

So, I got my Pearl (quit laughing, it's my first BB) running the new BBM and my gf wants it too, but I can't get the OTA to work. The desktop installation is not working either. Is there another OTA link to try? Or do I have to ask her to please be patient till it is working again?
I used http://95.172.28.74/files/4.5.0/83XXBBM5.jad , btw.
Thanks!
Who's scruffy-looking?
@Natemz -- you may have hit upon a problem/solution. I assumed since that link said 83XX it would work for her curve, which I just this afternoon updated to the most recent Sprint OS, 4.5. Is there a different link I should use, or was I correct in my assumption?
@Sunkast -- it's the same problem lot's of people are reporting. I get the dialog box which says the application is not compatible with the device.

That is probably why you are getting an error. You should install .138 which you can download from Telus.
Install it to your computer. Then go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader (or Program Files (x86) for 64 bit systems) and delete vendor.xml. After you do that, you should be able to use DM to install the update to her phone.
You can actually use .160
Just delete the vendor.xml file in C:Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/AppLoader
I've tried the OTA links, and using the desktop manager (latest official version) and get the error message that the program is not compatible with my phone. I have the Tour. Can anyone offer suggestions?
I'm using this link: BBM 4.7.1
to install via desktop

Okay what folders are you putting the files in? The cod files should be copied to the Java folder for the OS you have installed on your computer. And the ALX file, in the folder just before the Java one. Then you can use loader.exe to update.

I followed the directions on page 1 of the sticky. Is there another page with directions to follow?
