Best thing might be to check with your IT dept and find out if there is anything on their hand preventing this from happening.
I just ruled that out did a soft wipe on the BB then reinstalled using the App Loader same thing. Could you give me the step by step instructions on loading BBM 5.0 using the desktop maybe I'm missing something? or doing something wrong.

    Step One:
No pictureshere, just download the zip file...remember where it downloaded to we will need to go back there.

    Step Two
Open the zip folder and extract all contents to a folder name you can remember. I extracted mine to a folder called bbm.

    Step Three
Open Windows Explorer (I'm assuming you know how) and navigate to the folder where you extracted your new messenger files (mine is bbm)

    Step Four
Navigate to the For 4.7. 0 (or whatever your folder is) and move the cod files so that they are in the same folder as your alx file (see above, I just moved the cod file and the english cod file.)

    Step Five
Plug in phone and run DM (No pictues here sorry)

    Step Six
    Select Application Loader

    Step Seven
Select add/remove application by pressing the start button.

    Step Eight
Select Browse and Navigate to the folder that you made and put the blackberry messenger alx and cods files. (I navigated to my documents and then bbm)

    Step Nine
Select the file Blackberry_Messenger alx file. and press open

    Step Ten:
After you finish step nine you are nearly home free. The next step is to press the Next Button and DM will install this file and reboot your Blackberry.

If you still need assistance please post the followng information in your post:
    1) Blackberry Model
    2) Operations System - found in options ----> about
    3) Phone Carrier
    4) Error Message / or situation.

    Thanks.

How about a waiting room for people that have 5.0.0.191 and want BBM 5?

Question Is os 4.5.0.160 ok on verizon curve 8330 or?

Hello fellow forum members, first post here, please be kind.

I have read the first 7 pages of this thread and have what I hope to be the right procedure for upgrading my os and then installing bbm5. I just saw one thread, sorry did not write down it's number, where one individual was strongly saying not to put 4.5.0.160 on a verizon 8330, something about crackling sounds and instability.

So, do any of you with a verizon 8330, or know directly of someone who does, know if it is ok to use 4.5.0.160 on this device? Currently I have the latest verizon version, 4.5.0.138. From what I have read in the thread, .138 should be sufficient for bbm5. But, if I am going to make changes, why not also get the .160 that is referred to in so many places in this thread.

    Thanks in advance, Chris.

Hi and welcome.. My wife has a curve on VZW and I put .160 on there but when she would answer the phone there was a very very loud screech in the phone for both ppl on the line.. and it was not very stable.. she had a lot of freeze ups, and reboots. There is a WONDERFUL hybrid out there. I can help you with it but want to try and see what your comfort level is with loading OS's and your phone.. Let me know if you would like to try it.
