You need to activate the phone on a carrier and have it set up on the BIS. You should then get the option to set up personal email.

I can make and receive calls and send and receive sms. Surely this means it is activated with the carrier. The previous owner was also with 3 UK.

Only way to get e-mail is to pay 3 to get it, but I want to know that I'm not wasting my money and that this won't solve the problem.

There is no option on my phone to set up BIS only BES. Will signing up definitely mean I then get this option??

you have to activate a BIS account before that is possible. You may be active on a carrier but you will not be active to RIM until you do. And yes it will but you have to be active to the BIS in order to get the option.

Hi thank you for this awesome app! my phone is new, i added BB_MPCS_WAP_MMS v2.ipd and i can do all functions except send picture mail , although i can receive them pic mail , my question is that i cannot get the phone into legacy sb mode  i do ??818 over and over and now nothing, it only worked that once to install the ***v2.ipd ,all i was gonna do is reinstall service books(***v2.ipd) but i cant , must i do a low level wipe? and one more question using this app , since the phone is new, must i still back up anything, or can i just do a low level wipe and add the .prl if necessary? thank you for any advice.:1244:

You only need to back up the device if you have stuff to back up.
What I mean is, if its new and you have nothing in it then there is no need to back it up.

Just do the wipe and load what you would like.

Thanks tons. It's good to read that members are curing their issues by something BBOS has researched and come up with.

I've been using BBSAK for awhile now it's a definate must have software for any BlackBerry owner.
Wiping your device is too easy not to (look for code 507) then you know it's been wiped properly.
Then you can proceed with loading your OS with a few clicks and you're good to go
I also love the screenshot feature too
