I always thought a 'bucket of water' was the best way to wipe ANY handset!![]()

Ya canny beat a good leak! :fing02:
Just bought BlackBerry Bold 9700 from eBay. Previous user advised had used phone but couldn't get used to it - usual reason for sale. Phone is like brand new but only option on email is BES. This is my first BB phone so am not sure how to get back to factory settings. Have had many HTC windows phones, and have to say is all much easier on those.
Am using the latest Device Manager software and BBSAK 1.7
From what I can gather I need to wipe the phone using BBSAK - after doing a backup using BB Device Manager - then do a 3rd Party backup using BBSAK??
Then I should use BBSAK "Wipe Device" or should I use "Factory Reset"??
Should I remove my SIM?
Sorry am a complete Newb and this is my 1st post
Cheers
Chris

Thanks Tripster
BTW - If you know anyone on the RIMGeeks team you might suggest they build a help file into their software - looks a great tool but without any explanation of what each option does it becomes almost useless. Even their site has no info on how to use their tool. Amazing really.
Here is a How To video for BBSAK here: How To Use BBSAK Video
Scratch my idea, Neolantis link is better!at Neo!

There is an All in one thread for your needs located here: http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/b...es-videos.html
That may help, just follow it from the top...

Thanks guys - they both look very helpful
Just another quick question.
BBSAK does not show a picture of my actual phone - is this important?
OK so I have followed all of this through to the letter but my phone still does not give me any other option under Setup email than to connect via BES???
How the hell do I sort this out so as I can set this phone up as if it came out of the factory??
I thought BB's were supposed to be better than Windows phones??
No. But there is no mention anywhere that I should need one - there is supposed to be an option to set one up on the phone when I go through setup??
Why has wiping the phone and re-installing the correct OS for my carrier not sorted this?
Honestly cannot see why anyone would want one of these things at the moment. It is totally driving me up the wall.
TBH I have the option to return this to the seller. They gave me 7 days if I was unhappy.
I have been in contact with 3 and they do not yet sell the 9700 so can give me no support.
You need to activate the phone on a carrier and have it set up on the BIS. You should then get the option to set up personal email.

I can make and receive calls and send and receive sms. Surely this means it is activated with the carrier. The previous owner was also with 3 UK.
Only way to get e-mail is to pay 3 to get it, but I want to know that I'm not wasting my money and that this won't solve the problem.
There is no option on my phone to set up BIS only BES. Will signing up definitely mean I then get this option??
