Alos I'm late but have a suggestion. Before you wipe your device and after you have done a complete backup. Goto Options/Security Options/GeneralSettings/BB Button/Wipe Device, include 3rd party apps and follow the on screen instructions. Once complete I would use Crack Util and Wipe the file system and device apps. The reason for this is to make sure you have removed any residual traces of the previous OS.

Alright now we got the Bold Big Guns both in here. I will be able to sleep soundly tonight.

Well looks like "E" wins the prize!!! It was the change in memory card size! Makes sense now as everytime I check the memory in options, of course it has to scan the drive for it's size as it also reports the size of the card and amount of used (or free, I can't remember) space. Also, it puts the pics on the card.
Yee Haa!! Now I have found the problem...how do I fix it? I don't really want to go back to a 2 gb card for a 30 second delay...but it is a little hard to take a spontaneous pic. (Hey Bob, don't clean that pie off your face just yet!)

under options, memory, what are your settings for auto enable mass storage mode when connected?

I had the mass storage settings to on, but I did switch it to prompt when I read your last entry, but it didn't make any difference. When I turn media card support to off at the very top, it gets it's full speed back again, but of course that defeats the purpose of having a memory card. It is a SDHC card so I think thats the fastest?

Well that being said I think is a problem with the mem card next step would be format the card, back up all the data stored on it and and go ahead format it, then set mass storage mode to promp...

yeah, thats my next plan. I am not sure if I formatted the card when I first got it but I didn't think it would make that kind of a difference??

Ok...here's the update. I backup'ed the SD card...did a full format on it, replaced the data and reinserted. Still slow when accessing the memory page under options.

I have been able to speed the camera back up to near normal by having the pictures taken go to device, not media card.

So do I have to live with this or is there something a little funky going on?

BTW, the card is not empty... has about 3.3 gb on it out of 8 gb card. Mostly music and a couple of movies.

did you formatted the card using the phone or using the pc? to me looks like a problem with the memory card....what class is the card?

ie mine say SandDisk 4

I formatted it using the PC, in my media card slot.
My card is a Sandisk 8 gb, micro SDHC.
But I think there is a "C" with a 2 inside it

ok that means you have a 8gb sdhc class 2 wich is good, you may want to try formatting the card using the phone instead of the pc, i got better results that way

Sorry to sound like a dummy, but how to format using the phone? Do you mean format the card while it is in the phone and connected to the pc? Or is there a program on the phone for formatting the card there? I may not know that one...

On your phone go to

options>memory>hit your bb button and choose format

That should get you going

Well thanks E and Bryan... looks like that did it!! I have done the format via the phone and then replaced my data that I had saved on my desktop. The folders were kind enough to "merge" for me and voila, seems as fast as before!! I was getting a view "timers" so I am currently doing a reset but thiking this is it... all fixed.
You guys are awesome... and let me tell you...if I had any friends I would DEFINITELY recommend you to them!! (I will work on that)

Outstanding I am glad you are up and running!

Beautiful!! Reset all done and camera is as fast as ever! You know..it seemed like such a small annoyance compared to some of the big problems people come here with. I almost didn't ask.
But it shows how diverse and knowledgable you folks are on here. I came with a problem that I thought was related to the 5.0 OS...and you guys guide me right to my memory card LOL. You should all be doctors..... kinda like an episode of House anyway
