Thread: Update to wiping process!

Everytime i say i'm gonna leave my phone alone i find a reason to wipe and reload. I think i'm starting to get sick of it...lol

Don't worry socal it's called Obssesive Blackberry Disorder and 95% of the members on this site have it. BBC is currently in the lab cooking up a cure

Thank god. I was thinking though, How much better can these hybrids get? I mean I've tested just about everything out there now and it seems very little can be different between these hybrids. I mean there's only so many files out there, and each build was to be designed to be better then the last so basically its the newest build .151 with a couple 5.0 files and .148 files to make it work on 9530 which is gonna be the best, at least theoretically. So how long before its just copying someone else?

Im sure there are some that copy others, however I am not one of those. If I can make it better, and noticably then I will produce it, if not I keep them for my own use. But there are combinations that can produce a better outcome than what has currently been put together. Having a higher build # does not neccessarly mean that it is a better build. The OS that comes to mind was 114, it was released yet was sub par in my book. Then 113 came out and was better than 114. After that 122 was leaked and 113 was better than that one too. In all reality 132 has been one of the most stable but not many hybrids were produced of that build. I am currently working on the next one, and if it is noticably better than my current I will release that one. Only time will tell....

Good point. I forgot about those earlier builds released in that weird order. Well BBC if you need a guinea pig I'm always around. If you've seen my post you'll see that i change my OS/Radio around more than my underwear. I'm honest if you ever need an opinion on one of your builds. I in no way was ever referring to you copying someone, from what I've seen you always take your time and release the best build of the time so i know if you release it, its gonna be the best!

Socal there are many people who do copy someone else's work but I can assure you BBC is not one of them. I have analyzed every hybrid out there with a fine tooth comb and if anything people are using most of BBC's files. I have respect for everyone who builds these so I'm not casting dispersions on others. I know that when BBC releases a hybrid its because he has found a combination that works better than those he has released previously. I'm sure however his computer is filled the hybrids that never did see the day of light. And yes I am still trying to IP trace BBC so I can get those trashed hybrids. Perhaps one of them has the golden BT fix lol

Thanks crackman...I was taught that wiping from the phone is the best way of wiping the phone. I have never used JL Comander...I will try ur sugestion on my next upgrade!

Like i said, I meant it no way to sound like BBC would copy anyone. I guess i just figured with drought we're in, as far as leaks, how much is out there that hasn't been experimented with. I mean i have never even looked at the files that make up one of these OS's i don't know what goes into building one. From what i'm gathering i guess there's still combinations to figure out. That black build 7 was an interesting mix but it just felt a tad slower. I guess i just gotta wait for what BBC has brewing.

Sorry socal I didn't realize BBC essentially posted the same thing I did. As he stated in his post one of the OS's that has been neglected in the hybrids is 132. So perhaps there might be something there. But like of all of us, we'll just have to wait and see if BBC can conjure up something even more spectacular. Even though I love tweaking my OS and radios, I am very happy with the one I am on right now. It makes the Storm work like it should.

ooo... i do got a question that's on the wiping topic though...if you load your back up file back on, are you loading any of that old application data back on?

If you're talking about loading just your contacts and stuff, no it should not load any of the application data back on.

i'm going to try this, since i will probally have to get my BES reconnected because i did it but screw it. i want more memory. i will report if i can get the bEs to reconnect using this method with jlcmder with out calling my it dept

As long as your'e connected to the pc in which your corp email resides it should automatically activate as long as your bes admin has that feature enabled.

Thanks BCC for the wiping info. Another question -- I have 2 Storms and I have decided to sell one. It is running on Alltel right now with your hybrid v.7 What is the best way of wiping and restoring back to a original like when new? Will it go back to Verizon or will it stay on Alltel? I know this is a lot of questions and this may not be the right place to ask, but I need to know.

Do the security wipe by going to Options>>Security Options>>General Settings>>BB Button then Wipe Handheld. If you want to restore it back to factory settings then you can use BBSAK and use the Factory Reset Option. Get BBSAK HERE.
