Shortcuts for full QWERTY keyboard BB's

The first thing all BB owners (that have full QWERTY keyboards) should do is disable dialing from the home screen (phone > options > general options > dial from home screen = no). This enables the use of many shortcut keys. Here are a few to get the thread started, please post as many as you can think of:

    FROM HOMESCREEN/APP MENU:

    A - ADDRESS BOOK
    B - BROWSER
    C - COMPOSE EMAIL
    D - MEMO PAD
    F - PROFILES
    G - GOOGLE TALK
    H - HELP
    K - KEY LOCK
    L - CALENDAR
    M - MESSAGES
    N - BB MESSENGER
    O - OPTIONS
    P - PHONE
    R - ALARM
    S - SEARCH
    T - TASKS
    U - CALCULATOR
    V - SAVED MESSAGES
    W - WAP BROWSER
    Y - YAHOO MESSENGER

    FROM BROWSER (UPDATED 2/1/09):

    A - ADD BOOKMARK
    B - BOTTOM OF PAGE
    C - CONNECTION INFORMATION
    D - HOME PAGE
    F - SEARCH FOR
    G - GOTO WEBSITE
    H - HOMEPAGE
    I - ZOOM IN
    J - REFRESH PAGE W/JAVASCRIPT ENABLED
    K - BOOKMARKS
    O - ZOOM OUT
    P - PAGE ADDRESS
    R - REFRESH
    S - BROWSWER OPTIONS
    T - TOP OF PAGE
    U - FULLSCREEN TOGGLE
    V - SEARCH FOR
    X - TOP
    Y - HISTORY
    Z - PAGE DOWN

    IN MUSIC PLAYER:

    N - NEXT TRACK
    P - PREVIOUS TRACK

    IN CALENDAR (ADDED 2/1/09):

    A - AGENDA VIEW
    C - NEW APPOINTMENT
D - OPENS THE DAY YOU HAVE HIGHLIGHTED
    G - GOTO DATE
    M - MONTH VIEW
    N - NEXT PAGE
    P - PREVIOUS PAGE
    T - SNAP TO TODAY
    W - WEEK VIEW

IN A MENU - HIT THE FIRST LETTER OF YOUR SELECTION TO 'JUMP' TO IT. IF THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE WITH THAT FIRST LETTER, JUST KEEP HITTING THE LETTER AND IT WILL JUMP TO EACH ONE IN ORDER.

ALT + BACK - TOGGLE BETWEEN APPS

I know there are many more so please don't be shy. Who can think of more?

ask and you shall receive. hahaha

I was just thinking about something exactly like this. I'm getting a tour! and was looking around in the bold threads for some tips and tricks. I've never had a BB before the storm so I know nothing about the keyboard and shortcuts with qwerty.

something like this would make a good sticky somewhere..

I am very anal about my icons so what I do is put all the icons for apps that have shortcuts in a folder to clear up my app menu since I access them by shortcut rather than clicking the icon. Also helps because you can put your 3rd party apps with no shortcut on the homescreen and access all the others by shortcut which really cuts down on having to go to the app menu at all. Enjoy :beerchug:

Cool that's where quicklaunch comes in. Haha
I'm really hoping that the bold apps are going to be compatible with the tour. Maybe that 5.0 os they have over there too....

I've got a few for the Storm, hopefully this will spur finding others as well.

    To see the Event Log:
° Turn your phone into Landscape Mode, BB Menu > Show Keyboard
° Hold and LOCK the Number button [alt] (!?123)
    ° Hit: "/"/

° Turn your phone into Landscape Mode, BB Menu > Show Keyboard
° Hold and LOCK the Number button [alt] (!?123)
° Hold the Enter key until the egg timer shows up. Locks the screen
(I know its long, but its still cool)

If anyone has more, post them up!!

I just checked out that event log shortcut. Neat. I think I would have an easier time reading hilogriphics. What is that for?

It's where apps and other core processes dump their data into. It's also a good place to find out if there are errors or problems going on as pretty much everything happening on your phone is logged there.

Thank you for the explanation J. Also I noticed when I went to close it out I saw where it said to "clear" is that good practice or will I lose important things?

I was searching around on Google for the answer on if I should clear the event log for the Storm. I read an article but feel more comfortable from the advice I get from this site. Anyone?

Nothing wrong with cleaning event log. I never do, but many of our members do this on a regular basis to free up memory
