The topic of syncing email data like calendar and contacts to a BlackBerry device seems to come up quite frequently. I was reminded of this from a blog post from RIM, that also showed some steps on how to do this. So I decided to follow suite and write up a quick tutorial for everyone here. So I hope this will help someone. The first think you will want to check is your software version, as the version must be OS 5.0 or higher. If you find yourself with a lower OS version than OS 5.0 then you will want to take a look at our download section and see if there is an update for your device. Then take a look at our all in one guide to upgrade your device.
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
After making sure that you have the correct OS version its time to set the sync settings. Go to your setup folder on your BlackBerry then click on email settings.
If you do not have a gmail account you can always add one here as well by selecting the BlackBerry button and then Add Email option. If you already have a gmail account select the account and click on the edit option, this will bring you to the following screen:
From here select Synchronization Options. It is here that you may choose the data that you want to synchronize with your BlackBerry. Simply check the options you want an then save it.
That's it you should now be able to sync your contacts and calendar!
