Thread: How to:Re-install OS when computer wont recognize device.

Note: Timing is important in this process. Read through the following steps before beginning this procedure.

-Disconnect the BlackBerry device from the computer.
-In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open Application Loader and click Next.
-Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry device.
-Reconnect the BlackBerry device to the computer before the BlackBerry device finishes resetting, and complete one of the following steps:
-For BlackBerry devices with a USB connection, wait until the drop-down list on the Communication Port Selection window changes to USB PIN and click Next.
-For BlackBerry devices with a serial connection, click Next on the Communication Port Selection window.
-If the Handheld Password Required dialog box appears, type your password. The Application Loader will detect the BlackBerry device.

Note: If these steps do not complete successfully the first time, the BlackBerry device might have finished resetting before the Application Loader could connect to the BlackBerry device.

OMG Spector, I LOVE YOU MAN!
I have a Storm running 4.7.0.151. It was in some DOA state where all it would do is turn on and present a white screen with a spinning clock. Nothing could ever connect to it, I tried the latest BBSAK, DM 5, Loader.exe, CrackUtil, you name it. But following your instructions I have now restored the device to OS 4.7.0.148 "official" and I can go from there with installing and restoring stuff!

FWIW...both Verizon and RIM technical support said the device was DOA and would require replacing. Mayeb they should start reading forums like this!!!

I've wiped my Storm with CrackUtil. Nw I can't load any OS back onto it. Loader doesn't recognize BBOS's that are loaded on my PC. Now what?

did you delete the vendor.xml? and search to make sure its not hiding...here is a good read if you didnt http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/9...tml#post124968

Close but no cigar. DM shows it loaded 4.7.148 but on the reboot shows scrubbing. Any Ideas?
