Just like the iconic TV show Myth Busters, I will attempt to debunk or prove some of the worlds BlackBerry Myth's.
Enjoy!
-------
MYTH: RIM is only good for email
That used to be true, but not any more. BlackBerry smartphones have traditionally been branded with the one thing it does brilliantly - send and receive email. But with recent devices such as the Pearl, Curve, Bold, Storm and the Torch we now see great voice facilities, applications and touchscreen, as well. This means device convergence is now the case for many users. HTML Email, PIM, web browsing, voice and applications all in one small stylish handheld device. Perfect!!
MYTH: Blackberry has poor quality screens
That used to be true, but not any more. The latest models (from the 88XX, 81XX, 83XX, and 89xx series, as well as the newer models from the 90XX, 91XX, 93XX, 95XX, and 98xx series) feature bright, vivid, and crisp screens.
MYTH: BlackBerry has poor PIM
That used to be true, but not anymore. There are several third party PIM's such as PocketDay and eWorks. You now have multiple addresses and categories. Plus, it's faster to update information on a BlackBerry than on a PocketPC/Palm, with tips like BlackBerry Calendar Tricks. There are even program for special organizing systems like QuickNotes which focuses on implementing Notes (Getting Things Done) on your BlackBerry. There are many many more of these applications out there. Those are just a few that come to mind.
MYTH: BlackBerry does IM poorly
Wrong Again! All new models of BlackBerry feature support for not only BlackBerry Messenger, but for the hottest messenger services around including: AOL, Google Talk, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, Facebook and Myspace... While not freeware, BeeJive (formerly JiveTalk) and IM+ are both excellent multi-protocol IM applications for the BlackBerry and considered by many to be the best IM client available.
If you have any more MYTH's you would like BBOS Staff to validate or debunk, just comment below and we will give it a shot.
